Exploring Life & Business with Janelle Wiggins of Success on the Spectrum Town Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Wiggins.

Hi Janelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2006, my family and I made the life-changing move from the Philippines to the United States, seeking new opportunities and a brighter future. Just a few years later, I earned my degree in Special Education from the University of North Florida, graduating in 2010. My passion for working with individuals with special needs led me directly into the public school system, where I found my calling.
For over a decade, I dedicated myself to serving children and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities — the last eight years of which I spent at Alden Road Exceptional Student Center. It was deeply meaningful work, and it shaped not only my career, but also the direction of my life – a path I truly believe God prepared for me.
During that time, my husband and I often talked about building something of our own — a business driven by purpose, rooted in service, and aligned with our shared values. That vision came to life when we discovered Success On The Spectrum, an organization whose mission resonated deeply with us.
Today, we are incredibly grateful and blessed to be a part of the Success On The Spectrum family, bringing high-quality ABA therapy and compassionate care to families in our community. What started as a dream is now a reality — one built on years of experience, a heart for service, and a deep desire to make a lasting impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — but every challenge along the way has shaped us and strengthened our faith.

Like many immigrant families, we started from scratch when we moved to the U.S. in 2006. Adjusting to a new country, culture, and way of life while pursuing higher education and building a career wasn’t easy. There were times when the road felt overwhelming — juggling work, school, and family responsibilities, all while trying to stay rooted in our purpose.

Working in special education was deeply rewarding, but also emotionally demanding. I witnessed firsthand the challenges families face in getting the support their children need. It gave me purpose, but it also opened my eyes to the gaps in services — and planted the seed that one day, we might be part of the solution.

Starting a business came with its own set of challenges, but thankfully, we didn’t have to do it all on our own. With the support and guidance of the Success On The Spectrum franchise, we weren’t starting from scratch — we had a roadmap, a knowledgeable team behind us, and a community that truly wanted us to succeed. There were setbacks, delays, moments of doubt — but we kept reminding ourselves why we were doing this.

Looking back, the road was far from smooth. But it was full of growth, grace, and moments that affirmed we were exactly where we were meant to be. Faith was our anchor through it all.

We’ve been impressed with Success on the Spectrum Town Center, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Success On The Spectrum (SOS) is a premier provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism. Our clinic is part of a nationwide franchise that is dedicated to offering compassionate, individualized care backed by evidence-based practices.

At SOS, we focus on helping children develop the skills they need to succeed in life — socially, emotionally, academically, and independently. Our services include one-on-one ABA therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, social skills groups, parent training, school readiness programs, and community integration support. Every program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family we serve.

What sets us apart is our commitment to quality, transparency, and family involvement. Our clinic is designed to be welcoming, safe, and child-friendly — a place where learning feels engaging and progress is celebrated.

With a team of highly trained BCBAs, RBTs, and support staff, we ensure that each child receives consistent, data-driven care in a supportive environment. We work closely with families every step of the way, equipping parents with the tools and confidence to continue progress at home and beyond.

As part of the SOS franchise, we also benefit from national standards, ongoing training, and operational support — allowing us to focus on what matters most: empower children to reach their full potential.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me is building genuine connection, fostering open communication, and supporting others with compassion and respect.

In both my personal life and professional work, I believe deeply in the principle of “connection before correction.” Whether I’m working with a child, speaking with a parent, or leading a team — trust and understanding come first. When people feel seen, heard, and valued, meaningful growth and learning can happen.

Communication is another value that guides me daily — not just speaking, but truly listening. In the world of ABA and special education, clear and compassionate communication is essential — with children, with families, and within our team. It creates safety, builds relationships, and allows everyone involved to work toward a common goal.

Ultimately, what matters to me is serving others in a way that honors their dignity, empowers their journey, and reflects the values I hold close: faith, empathy, and a deep belief in the potential within every person.
