Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Rashan Ladyfire Jones of Complete Dimensions Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rashan Ladyfire Jones.

Dr. Rashan Ladyfire, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Complete Dimensions Wellness Center begin in 2019 during covid. I transitioned from Orlando back to my home town Jacksonville , Florida to serve as a mental health provider. It was discussed amongst the World Health Organization that mental health would be the biggest factor affected by the Covid 19 pandemic across lifespans. I began to set my business up in a small office on the southside of Jacksonville , while everyone else was closing their doors to reduce contact. I continued to be obedient in my ministry to serve the people and my community. We provided full service mental health services with a holistic and traditional medicine approach along with therapeutic services. We have participated in multiple community events to educate the community on mental wellness and prevention. Our goal is to break the stigma of what mental health looks like, and to have people understand if you have a brain you have mental health that needs attention and care. We currently offer full service mental health services in person and telehealth. I have created and developed multiple programs for teens and elders to support mental wellness. Our future looks bright as we continue to serve the community and aid people to find their light when they feel they are in darkness. I love to say if you are feeling blue we are here for you!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road of being a business owner is never smooth. It has been very trying at times my 2nd year in business I almost gave up due to billing issues and no payment from insurance, I literally worked for free that year. The only thing that saved my business was my herbal supplements that I sold online and at community events. Year 3 , I built a solid team , improved my processing system, and gained more visibility on social media. Year 4 and 5 I saw growth, I begin to expand and add providers and students to the practice. During year 4 I lost my online platform to sell holistic products due to hacking , which caused great disappointment and I lost motivation to continue that side of the business. Year 6 we have experienced transition again and restructured the business to remain available for the clients we serve. I am the sole provider in the practice currently, with virtual front office, and a biller. Depending solely on reimbursement from insurance companies is a struggle as this is never a guarantee and as the provider you have already provided service with no payment. I really am passionate about what I do as a mental health provider so yes, I have worked for free a lot during my journey. This work is my purpose and my ministry to serve in the community. I have learned you cant please or help everyone , but if you are able to save one life then you made an impact. I have never received any financial support from any outside organizations , grants , or business loans to support the business. I have carried the business financially with hard work and the support of my clients. I had thoughts of expansions but with the state of the economy , I may consider operating in another state or abroad with the assistance of technology, utilizing a virtual platform. I also plan to restart my holistic product line again. For many mental health businesses to stay up and running is having proper reimbursement from the insurance companies and this is just not happening for providers and it is running practices out of business. You cant afford to pay your staff and office overhead if you are not getting payments properly from the insurance companies. We should be reimbursed real time like they pay the pharmacies.
