Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Wannamaker.
Hi Brooke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Brooke Wannamaker, and I am 28 years old. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended Trinity Christian Academy. Upon my high school and two-year college graduation in 2011, I attended and graduated from the University of Florida in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science, Go Gators!
Since graduation, I began work in my field of study, got married, and had my daughter, Amelia who is now five years old. In 2016, I decided it would be best to stay home with my daughter and began working for my family business in the construction industry. Fast forward years later, I am now an owner of the business and have also opened my own design company in 2019, Amelia Design and Company, Inc.
I work in a predominantly male-dominated industry, and it is empowering as a woman to be a leader in this field. I hope to inspire my daughter to chase her dreams and never take no for an answer. In 2020, I started my Master of Business Administration and will be graduating this Spring 2022. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I have gained through education will help build upon the success and fulfillment I have already received working in the business industry.
My greatest desire is to inspire not only my daughter, but other young women to pursue their dreams, understand the importance of furthering their education, and achieve the goals that you have set for yourself!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing a successful business and brand always comes with challenges. The first and most obvious challenge would be growing your brand, getting others to follow along on your journey, and securing your first large contracts. Another challenge is the scrutiny you may face from your peers and what others may think of you for stepping out on faith.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a full-service design company, we specialize in remodels and custom new construction design. I am most proud of the relationship I am able to build with my clients and our ability to make their dreams a reality.
What matters most to you? Why?
In business, setting a positive role model for other young women to follow. In my personal life what matters most to me is my faith in God, and my daughter Amelia. I want other women, including my daughter, to know they can be successful in a male-dominated industry.
