Hi Brianna, can you introduce yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Starting my business was one. It pushed me to become more of the person I always wanted to be. I was always very quiet and shy and never made many friends. Being an entrepreneur made me more social, and I learned how to talk and interact with strangers. Also, I turned a lot of clients into friends. Lastly, it saved my life. I was mentally depressed, had people around that didn’t have good intentions for me, and had too much time on my hands, leading to me making many bad decisions. I started to occupy my time building my credit (personal and business), learning the ends and outs of the business, and attending networking events, seminars, and mentoring programs. It helped elevate my mindset, and in June 2021, Skin Hawk Bar and Day Spa opened its doors. My business is my best friend and a challenge, and I love a challenge. We’re located in Jacksonville, FL, near the Orange Park Mall. We’ve been open for over a year and have serviced many clients. We offer an array of corrective facials, brow services, full body waxing, and much more. What I love most about my job is teaching women how to care for their skin in intimate areas, which a lot of women are unaware of.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business takes a lot of work. It takes dedication and a high level of focus. Many people aren’t ready to set aside to elevate their lives. The hardest struggle you will encounter is, playing every role in your business in the beginning. Being the worker, the receptionist, handling the marketing, and the list goes on. On the way, you face other challenges, such as keeping yourself motivated, staying consistent, and running your race. Never compare yourself to others. Your journey will always be different. In my first year, I had to take a second job overnight, working at a gas station for two months to keep my location open. When push comes to shove, you have to be ready to take every measure possible to make it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are located on the Westside of Jacksonville, FL, near the Orange Park Mall. I specialize in Brazilian and full-body waxing. Also, we offer corrective skin facials. Our main goal is to thoroughly educate our clients on caring for their skin, especially in the intimate area. I’m known for being experienced in Brazilian waxing for every race and size. Before starting my business, I performed over 400 services, every race, and size. What sets me aside from others is my customer service. I aim to offer my clients an experience they will tell someone about. Besides my customer service, I’m most proud of how inclusive my brand is and how I set my business up to resemble big businesses. We also have new services from intimate bleaching, permanent makeup, and nano-needling. Add some self-care into your routine. I would love to meet you.
