Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Radin.
Hi Brandi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been an active person, even as a child, always playing outside with friends and playing competitively in softball from the age of 7 all the way through college. My mother was a nurse during my childhood, so I was always curious about health, movement and how the body works. I went to Furman University and got my degree in Health and Exercise Science graduating in 1993. I worked in the outpatient physical therapy field for 14 years learning a lot about the treatments of many injuries. In 2010, an opportunity came available to work as a personal trainer, so I worked at a big box gym helping all kinds of people from age 12 to 96. in 2019, I branched out on my own and created Body by Brandi working at a co-working gym until Downtown Athletics was ready in 2021.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say yes and no. I really wanted to go on to physical therapy school and work in PT, but that did not work out for me. But personal training gave me another way to help people in their health journeys and I am loving it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Body by Brandi is a personal training service that provides one on one or group strength training workouts in a private studio. I am not your run of the mill, 6-8 week course trainer. I have a 4 year Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University. I have my certification for personal training from ISSSA, certified inclusive trainer and certified cancer trainer from ACSM. Prior to opening Body by Brandi, I worked for 14 years in an outpatient physical therapy clinic, which helped me learn a lot about the body and how to treat the injuries involved. I am also a prior high level college athlete that knows the commitment it takes to practice and compete. I feel that my knowledge as an athlete and physical therapy sets me a part because it gives me the drive to want to help all my clients be the best they can be.
What matters most to you?
Happiness is what matters most to me. Whether it is me being happy with where I am at right now or helping a client reach a goal. If I can bring a smile or happiness to whoever I touch in my life, then I know I have been a positive in this world.
