Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Pompy
Hi Angelica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the owner of Pompy Portraits and Angelica Pompy Education.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. I grew up with my life being documented through photos and video by my mom. That’s where my love for photography began. In high school, I worked at a local senior portrait studio and in college decided to major in Health Administration and minor in photography because I was told that being a photographer wasn’t a “real job”. I graduated from UNF and got a corporate job.
In 2017, I got engaged and pitched to my fiance (now husband Scharmy) to launch a photo booth business to pay for our wedding. Pompy Portraits was born and we scaled that business to a 6 figure business by year 2.
I always did photography on the side and the photo booth business was running like a well oiled machine so I quit my corporate job in 2019 to take on photography full time. Scharmy also joined as a videographer. That decision changed my life forever.
In 2021, we rebranded and split into two separate business. Scharmy launched 21:9 Films and Pompy Portraits became what it is today – a boudoir and maternity photography business.
We decided to sell our photo booth business and get a brick and mortar studio in 2022. This was truly a dream come true!
In 2023, I launched Angelica Pompy Education where I help female entrepreneurs grow and scale their business through effective marketing strategies. I have always had a passion about helping others grow their businesses so I said “f*ck it! What’s one more business?!”
Now I run Pompy Portraits with an incredible team along side me. The photography experience we give our clients is like no other in Jacksonville and I am so proud of what we’ve created. And in Angelica Pompy Education, I get to share my experiences, stories and knowledge through group coaching, 1:1 coaching and with people from the stage. My goal as a business coach and marketing strategist is to help women show up confidently and build a business that lights them up.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been struggles and lessons along the way! In fact, 2024 probably gave us the most challenges to overcome.
Last year, we were forced to pivot the most since I’ve been in business. We had to understand how the market has changed, and continues to change, and then update our marketing efforts accordingly. We learned that our ideal customer isn’t hanging out out Instagram as much as in years prior. Instagram used to be our top lead generator but we saw more come in through Google in 2024 so we had to learn more about optimizing our website to show up in search results and to convert visitors into leads. We learned more about running ads and how to best target our ideal customer.
Overall, we’ve really learned that when you’ve been in business for multiple years, it’s easy to lean into doing things the same that always worked before, but there are times you have to shift based on what’s happening today. The way we market not versus when I launched the business just has to be different because the way people find and choose brands to work with is always evolving.
We’ve found that not only have we had to change our pricing, but we’ve also had to look at what services and packages make sense for our ideal client and how do they like to interact with us. So whether it’s your prices, services or communication style, you have to be willing to take an inventory of your business often and pivot accordingly.

Pompy Portraits is a luxury boudoir photographer and maternity photographer in Jacksonville, FL. We’re an all-women Jacksonville photography studio specializing in helping women celebrate their womanhood in every aspect of life. Angelica Pompy Education is a business coaching and marketing strategist business where I work with creative female entrepreneurs get their time back by implementing automation and workflows, create more marketing impact in less time, learn how to give their clients a better client experience and gain the confidence to show up on and win more clients from social media.
I do this through my Business Church community membership, 1:1 coaching, VIP Days and countless resources. I feel passionately about empowering women to build a profitable business and creating a community of like-minded women who get each other.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for finding a mentor is to look for someone a step above you. They should have the experience to challenge you and your thinking. Before investing in a coach or mentor, study their teaching style and their lifestyle. Personality is a huge factor in finding a good fit so you need to make sure you find someone you vibe with. Things always seem like rainbows and butterflies online, so I always recommend asking for testimonials and even past clients to hear about their experience. The best way to find someone is to put yourself out into your community. This allows you to find someone local, to meet expert leaders in your community and meet people that you are in tune with. I’ve had a coach my entire career and that’s how I’ve been able to grow and scale my business.
