Exploring Life & Business with Alyssa Murray of Fierce & Fit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Murray

Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My fitness journey started in 2012, when I was competing for the title of Miss America. I was Miss Delaware and was given a package with a personal trainer to prepare for the pageant. I went to him as a thin, self-conscious girl, looking to lose more weight. Luckily, he saw my potential as an athlete, and put a barbell in my hands. Throughout that year I gained 6 pounds of muscle, and found a deep love for health, fitness, nutrition, and most importantly, myself. When I moved to the Jacksonville area I got into CrossFit, which further instilled this passion for health, and I became a full time coach. Now I work with clients online to help them become the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have certainly been struggles along the way, but the confidence that weightlifting and CrossFit have given me, have helped me overcome any obstacle I’ve faced. The 2019-2020 Covid epidemic was a tough time to be in the fitness field, especially if you’re a people person who thrives off of interaction with your clients. This, however, was where I learned that an online coaching model can be just as effective and fulfilling, and is more accessible for a lot of people!

As you know, we’re big fans of Fierce & Fit. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in helping people learn the basics of fitness, gain confidence in the gym and in themselves, and thrive as the best version of themselves. My habits based approach to fitness and nutrition sets me apart. We don’t aim for perfection, progress is always the goal. I find that a balanced and sustainable approach allows for more long-lasting and life-changing results. Additionally, I love helping clients find fitness goals that don’t revolve around the scale. Progress isn’t linear, and sometimes the victory is using more weight for a set than last week, getting 8 hours of sleep, drinking 100 oz of water, or cutting out that daily soda. The more approachable and realistic a plan is, the more likely you are to succeed.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Helping people find love for health and fitness, and most importantly, for themselves. Life is too short to spend time hating our bodies, it’s time to focus on what our bodies allow us to do, rather than what they look like. Health is so much more important than aesthetics.
