Daily Inspiration: Meet William Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Delgado

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is William Delgado, born in Maracay, Venezuela, in 1979. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession, and in my free time, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places with my family. I have always documented our vacations with photos to preserve those memories.

One day, during a family gathering in December, my mother suggested, “Why don’t you turn photography into a business?” Following her advice, I began taking photography and editing courses. Soon, I discovered my true passion for photography, specializing in capturing people’s beauty and documenting the most important moments of their lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
At first, my challenge was to know the itineraries of each company, as well as to become familiar with the different ceremonies according to the nationality or religion of each client. Fortunately, with the experience I have gained over the years, I always ask for detailed information about the complete itinerary of the event I am going to cover. This way, I make sure I don’t miss any important moments during the development of any ceremony.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I consider myself a very versatile photographer. When I focus on event photography, you’ll always find me walking around the venue, searching for the shots my clients need. Additionally, my creative side is always at work, seeking out the perfect shot from a perspective that’s unfamiliar to the human eye.

During portrait sessions, I’m a patient photographer, especially with models who may not feel comfortable in front of the camera. I guide them, helping them find the most suitable pose according to their personality, whether it’s an elderly person or a baby for their smash cake session.

Moreover, I love working with flash photography, as I believe that combining natural and artificial light adds a unique and special touch to photos.

I thrive on challenges. With each new project, I strive to deliver work of higher quality than the last.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
As an immigrant, married for 18 years and father of a 17-year-old daughter, my experience as a professional photographer in this country has been fascinating. Initially I faced the challenge of the English language, but over the years I have had the opportunity to immerse myself in a multitude of cultures. I feel like I have grown both personally and professionally and I am proud of myself. At 44 years old I feel that I have a lot of energy to continue learning and also many things to offer and teach.
