Today we’d like to introduce you to V Christine Brandt.
Hi V Christine; thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstories.
My love for photography started in high school with my first real camera, a Yashica with real film. Yes, before my real camera, I had those point-and-shoot Polaroids, but once I got the 35 mm camera, I was hooked to different lenses and filters. I’ve always loved taking photographs of flowers, birds, and of course, my pets that I’ve had, cats, and dogs. Then I was blessed with my son, and the baby photo started. Many years later, I was blessed with two grandchildren, and my love continued to grow started to do family portraits and beach vacations. Then back in 2011, I moved to Saint Augustine. But it wasn’t until December 2020 that I started my business VC Brandt Photography after walking into the First Looks Artisans Market at 162 San Marco Ave. in Saint Augustine. Over the years, my friends and family told me I should sell my photographs. Still, it wasn’t until I walked into the store that I realized I wanted to sell my photographs which meant I needed a new camera, new lenses, and a new tripod to start learning Lightroom and Photoshop.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle is learning Lightroom and Photoshop.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer here in Saint Augustine. I do photo shoots; I take photographs of landscape wildlife and flowers. And even pet photography. I enjoy family beaches, photos, children’s play dates birthday parties. I’ve done some baby bump photos. I think I am most proud of just seeing the smiles on their faces once they see their photographs.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned during my journey is to have fun, relax, connect with people, and get lost behind the camera. If you don’t love what you do, you’re not going to put your heart and soul into it, so I give it all I have and hope it shows in my work.
