Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrica Anderson.
Hi Terrica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been a beautiful process of growth, healing, and purpose. I started from a place of wanting to better understand who I was and the calling God placed on my life. Through different seasons, challenges, and experiences, the Lord continued to refine me, strengthen my faith, and show me the importance of serving others.
Over time, my passion for helping women, youth, and families grew. I realized that many people are searching for hope, support, and community, and that became the heart behind creating Holy Homegirls Inc. What started as a desire to bring women together in faith and fellowship grew into a nonprofit focused on mentorship, outreach, and creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
Today, I’m continuing to build that vision by partnering with the community, serving underserved areas, and creating programs that point people toward faith, purpose, and restoration. I’m grateful for every season that brought me here because each one prepared me for the work I’m doing now.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been many seasons of growth, uncertainty, and learning along the way. One of the biggest struggles has been learning to trust God through the process, especially when the vision was bigger than what I could see in front of me.
Building something from the ground up has required faith, patience, resilience, and stepping out of my comfort zone. There have been moments of feeling overwhelmed, figuring things out as I go, balancing responsibilities, and pushing through obstacles that could have caused me to quit.
But every challenge has shaped me. The difficult seasons have strengthened my faith, taught me endurance, and reminded me that purpose often comes with preparation. I believe the experiences I’ve walked through have helped equip me to better serve others because I understand what it means to need hope, support, and restoration.
The journey hasn’t been perfect, but it has been purposeful — and I’m grateful for every lesson along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is centered around serving, mentoring, and creating opportunities for restoration and growth within the community. I am the founder of Holy Homegirls Inc., a faith-based nonprofit focused on mentorship, outreach, and building supportive spaces where women, youth, and families can find encouragement, resources, and purpose.
Through Holy Homegirls, we specialize in community engagement, faith-based mentorship, youth support, and connecting people with resources that help them move forward. A major part of our mission is reminding people that they are seen, valued, and capable of walking in purpose.
I also serve through the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program, where I advocate for the best interests of children in the child welfare system. That work has deepened my passion for supporting vulnerable youth and families and has strengthened my commitment to creating safe, positive environments for those who need a voice.
What I’m most proud of is seeing an idea that started from a heart for service grow into something that impacts real people. I’m proud of the relationships built, the communities reached, and the lives encouraged through this work.
What sets us apart is the combination of faith, compassion, and action. We don’t just talk about change — we show up, build relationships, and meet people where they are. Our goal is to help restore hope, strengthen families, and empower the next generation.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe risk is a necessary part of growth, but I don’t view risk as acting without wisdom or preparation. To me, taking a risk means being willing to step into something uncertain when you believe the purpose behind it is greater than the fear of starting.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was stepping out in faith to start Holy Homegirls Inc. Building a nonprofit from the ground up required me to move beyond my comfort zone, invest my time and energy, create partnerships, learn new systems, and believe in a vision before I could fully see the outcome.
Another risk has been choosing to use my own experiences and passions to serve others. Opening yourself up to help people requires vulnerability, because you have to be willing to share your heart, show up consistently, and sometimes lead even when you’re still growing yourself.
I’ve learned that some of the greatest opportunities come after moments of uncertainty. I try to approach risk with prayer, preparation, and purpose. I ask myself: “Does this align with the mission God has placed on my life, and will it create a positive impact for others?” If the answer is yes, I’m willing to take the next step.
My journey has taught me that staying comfortable can sometimes keep you from walking into the things you were created to do.
