Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rivera.
Sarah , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story starts with my family — a colorful blend of creativity and culture. My dad’s side comes from Amish country, my mom’s from Puerto Rico, and both are full-time artists. Along with many other creatives further into the family line. So it’s safe to say, creativity runs deep in my veins.
I fell in love with photography at a young age, but it wasn’t until adulthood, while working as a paralegal, what I thought would be my “forever” career, that I discovered my true passion: helping other creative entrepreneurs grow their businesses through brand photography.
It all clicked one day when I stepped into a studio in the Dallas area for my own simple headshot mini session. The moment I walked in, I felt it, that spark of inspiration that happens when creatives share space and energy. I grew up with two art studios in my own home, and I realized I wanted to give that same sense of belonging and possibility to others.
That’s where The Creative Content Studio was born. I had dreamed about opening it for years, but when I found the perfect location in The Lighthouse Plaza in downtown St. Augustine, with its blank canvas of white walls, huge natural-light windows, and (the holy grail!) parking, I knew it was time to take the leap.
I opened the doors just one month ago, and it’s already become a space where photographers, creators, and entrepreneurs can imagine more, create freely, and shine brighter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely had some obstacles along the way! Like most creatives, there have been plenty of challenges along the way.
When I decided to open The Creative Content Studio, I knew it would be a big leap but when the reality hit of just how many hats I’d be wearing all at once. I went from being a photographer to suddenly handling lease negotiations, build-outs, permits, and budgets all while still serving my brand photography clients and being a present mother to my two kids. It was a lot to juggle, but I learned so much through it and had a lot of help from my family!
Honestly, the hardest part wasn’t the logistics, it was actually trusting myself enough to take the leap. I had dreamed about opening this space for years, but there’s a big difference between dreaming and doing. There were many moments of doubt, but I kept reminding myself why I started, to create a space where other creatives could feel inspired, supported, and at home.
Now that the studio doors are open, every single challenge feels worth it. It’s proof that sometimes the scariest steps lead to the most rewarding outcomes.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At my core, I’m a storyteller, I just happen to tell those stories through the lens of a camera. I’m a Brand Photographer and the owner of The Creative Content Studio in downtown St. Augustine, a natural-light space created for photographers, content creators, and business owners to bring their ideas to life.
Through my photography brand, Creative Content by Sarah, I specialize in helping female entrepreneurs and local businesses elevate their online presence through intentional brand imagery and short-form video. I’m known for creating experiences that go beyond the camera helping clients uncover the heart of their brand and translate it visually in a way that feels strategic, elevated, and true to who they are.
Opening The Creative Content Studio has allowed me to take that mission to a whole new level. I wanted to design a space that sparks creativity, a place where photographers and entrepreneurs can walk in, feel instantly inspired, and have the freedom to create in their own style. Every corner of the studio was designed with that in mind: the natural light, the flexible furniture, the curated props, and the colorful rolling walls that adapt to any brand aesthetic.
What I’m most proud of is the community that’s already forming within these walls. Seeing local creatives connect, collaborate, and bring their visions to life here has been such a full-circle moment.
What sets me apart is the balance I bring between creativity and strategy. I’ve built my business from the ground up, so I understand both sides; the artistic vision and the marketing purpose behind it. My goal is always to help others not just look good online, but feel confident and seen in their brand story.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about St. Augustine and the Jacksonville area is the creative energy that connects both communities. St. Augustine has this historic charm and coastal calm that sparks inspiration, while Jacksonville offers a fast-growing creative scene full of collaboration and opportunity. Together, they create such a supportive environment for artists, entrepreneurs, and small business owners to thrive.
If I had to choose something I like least, it would probably be the parking and seasonal traffic but honestly, that’s a small trade-off for living and working in such a beautiful and inspiring place.
