Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Huffman.
Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We were a typical 4-piece cover band for several years but got bored with playing the same songs as everyone else. Then we started exclusively playing “surf rock” and “spaghetti western” music and we soon got very busy. We knew we were on to something. That was 10 years ago, and we have never looked back. We also expanded into playing well known movie soundtracks which also goes over well
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Pretty smooth. It is somewhat hard to explain what we do but once they hear it, people like it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Rip Currents are Jacksonville’s premiere “Surf Rock” band. Performing instrumental tunes as well as early 60″s and popular classic rock songs. Surf jazz, Spaghetti Western music, and numerous movie and film sound tracks. Artists such as Dick Dale, The Surfaris, The Vanduras, The Ventures, Duanne Eddy, The Astronauts, Link Wray, The Sonics, The Fuzztones, and many others.
