Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Stewart Jr.
Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my start back in 2004 in Jacksonville, FL, towards the end of that year. I had a close friend who was a part of a performing arts organization that was also geared towards giving the youth a positive outlet. The organization was called “The rising stars of tomorrow.” I very nervously auditioned, and the rest is history. I had my first live performance a few months later.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So, I wouldn’t say that the road has been smooth, but it has been an interesting one. Just as life, it has its ups and downs, and things definitely do not always go as planned. Either way, I’m grateful for the journey. It’s constant learning and trying different things to find what works and with that comes the bumps and dead-ends. Like in 2023, I was able to co-write, co-star, co-direct and produce my first feature film. Unfortunately, it’s currently in what’s called post-production hell. And it’s been 3 years of trying to figure it out. We’ll get it together though.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a published model and have been modeling for 18 years currently. I am also an actor and have been in that area for 21 years currently. I write scripts as well as revise them for other writers. I’ve managed to be lucky enough to have my own Productions company and have been in business for 10 years so far (Badstew Productions), but I am currently revamping the name of it as well as the overall structure of how I’ve been running business. So be ready for some interesting projects.
I specialize in modeling, acting and sound production, but I usually keep the sound part underwraps until I’m working the sound department on a project.
It’s hard for me to say exactly what I’m known for other than fitness and my unhinged podcast “The flow of an Aquarius.” I actually get asked all the time about the show and people will genuinely have conversions with me about how my outlook on things have either changed their perspective. I’ve even been told by a few people that they play my show on their speakers while they are at home cleaning or cooking and that makes me feel pretty good about what I’m doing.
I’ve had a few people also recognize me from a few films and tv shows.
One thing that I am most proud of, and it is a big thing to me. Is that, I was able to be lucky enough to make a childhood dear into a career. When I was a kid in single digits of age, it has been a dream of mine to see my name in lights, if that makes sense. To be able to perform, entertain in many different aspects and tell stories. That is big for me and means so much. I used to go to the movies when I was a kid with my great uncle and this was back in the early 90’s, but just watching everything on the big screen. I was fascinated. I wanted to know how it was created, who were the people behind the characters and how could I get there. So I also thank him as well for taking me introducing me to something that would eventually become a major part of my life.
I think one thing that separates me from others is my strong will to accomplish, learn and remain versatile in this industry. In the past 21 years in this industry, I have literally worked every department on at least one or another. I’ve created latex and prosthetic fx, casting molds, Foley sound effects for shows, mix and mastered music for theater, choreographed entire stage performances, directed films, set designed and so much more. I’m just greatful for it all and I learn from it all. With the experience and knowledge, I am able to create my own projects or work with other well known individuals to create things together. And I am very determined to get things done.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by being able to do what you love and being happy while you’re doing it. The money and everything will come, and I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true. I love what I do, so much.
