Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As a young girl, my skin has always been clear and flawless. For some reason, in my 30s, my skin began to take a turn. I was getting pimples and blackheads randomly but often. I’ve always taken pride in my skin. I tried multiple skincare products but none worked for me.
So I told myself I would have my own skincare line one day. After researching healthy skin and learning what the skin needed, I started Magnate Beauty. All of my skincare products are made of plant-based oils such as coconut, jojoba, and tea tree to name a few.
My products are for all skin types, races, and genders. I would recommend starting a good skincare routine at age 12-13 years old. Yes, we have something for the tweens!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As a new business owner, it definitely has not been a smooth road for me, especially in the marketing department. I’m not a business major, I’m a nurse and an ’80s baby. So I don’t know much abt marketing or social media. I’ve learned a lot on this journey and I’m continuing to learn new things, connect with others, and create new ways to market my business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a registered nurse. My total nursing career is going on for 12 years. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. Before I became a nurse, I was a high school teacher for six years, which I enjoyed but it wasn’t my passion.
So while I was teaching, I went to nursing school and began my lifelong career. I’m also an author of my first book titled, Stay On Your Birth Control. While teaching and looking at social media, single parenthood seems to be accepted as the norm but single parenthood is no walk in the park.
True feelings, events, and issues are not discussed so I wrote a book! It just needs to be said and talked about, especially with our youth. The book is available by paperback or E-book.
I made sure my skincare line was different by offering one on one skincare consultations called “Skinversations”. These one on one Zoom calls are between myself and the customer. We just talk about skin, products they currently use and I suggest products and services to them. It’s totally confidential. I’m a very honest person. If my products aren’t the right fit, I will let the customer know that.
My book “Stay On Your Birth Control” is a book targeting kidless, single men and women and make them aware of different aspects of single parenthood they may encounter. The book has testimonies from single moms and dads and a single mom after divorce. The book also asks critical thinking questions about their life goals and situations that may happen when you have kids. There are resources such as graphs, statistics and charts relating to the topics in the book. The book is in FULL color. Of course, I have different birth control options listed as well. My teacher skills really came to life in this book! Soon I’d like to visit high schools and colleges to do speaking engagements and start a teen summit segment where the audience can ask questions about life including relationships, children and hard topics I.e. abortion and rape. I want them to be able to express themselves with no judgement. When I was teaching, my students would tell me ANYTHING because I didn’t judge them and I gave mature and wise advice. I really want to start this soon. The youth need it badly.
What sets me apart from others in all of my businesses is my passion, love for education and determination to give real and raw advice to anyone who wants to learn

What makes you happy?
Love and success make me happy. I just love love. I love enjoying life. I love those who love me. I love my family. I love being happy. Laughing and feeling good is a great stress reliever. I want to live life to the fullest. I must be happy in order to enjoy the love and success I have.
