Hi Jenna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I never imagined that planning my own wedding in 2020 would completely change the course of my life.
As I planned our wedding, I quickly fell in love with the art of wedding photography. I was captivated by the way a single image could preserve not just what a wedding looked like, but what it felt like. As someone who has always been deeply emotional, creative, and soulful, I knew this wasn’t just a passing interest, it felt like a calling.
Later that year, I purchased my very first camera and immediately started photographing anyone and everyone who would let me. I was determined to learn everything I could. During my first year in business, I invested my entire savings, more than $30,000, into education, workshops, mentorships, and travel to refine my craft and build a business with intention.
By my second year, I took the biggest leap of faith of my life: I left my full-time safety net career to pursue wedding photography full time.
Since then, I’ve had the incredible honor of documenting more than 100 weddings throughout Florida and across the United States. Every celebration reminds me why I fell in love with this work in the first place. For me, photography has never been about simply taking beautiful pictures, it’s about preserving legacy, documenting genuine human connection, and creating art that transport people back to the emotions of one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change any part of the journey.
One of the biggest challenges was leaving the security of my full-time job to work for myself. It was terrifying to walk away from a stable career and trust that wedding photography was truly what I was meant to do. There were so many unknowns, and taking that leap required a lot of guts & determination to make it work.
During those first few years, I often wondered if I would find the kind of couples who truly valued and understood my work. I questioned whether my art would translate into a sustainable career and whether there would always be enough work to keep pursuing this dream. Like many creatives, I had moments of self-doubt and wondered if I was enough.
Looking back now, I’m incredibly grateful that I chose to take that chance. Today, I wake up every day doing work that fills my soul. I never take for granted that couples trust me with some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a wedding photographer and storyteller based in North Florida, serving couples throughout Florida and across the United States. I specialize in documenting weddings through a blend of candid, documentary moments and timeless editorial imagery on both digital and analog cameras. My goal has never been to simply take beautiful photos, it’s to preserve the feeling of a wedding day so my couples can return to those moments for decades to come.
What I’m most known for is creating photographs that feel deeply emotional and honest. I’m drawn to the quiet in-between moments just as much as the big celebrations—the tearful hugs, the deep breaths before walking down the aisle, the laughter that can’t be recreated. My work is rooted in connection, and I want every gallery to feel like a time capsule rather than a collection of posed images.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my couples place in me. Being invited into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life is an incredible honor, and I approach every wedding with that responsibility in mind.
I think what truly sets me apart is the way I care for people. I’m not just there to photograph a wedding, I’m there to create a space where my couples feel seen, comfortable, and fully present. My approach is calm, intentional, and deeply personal. I believe the most meaningful photographs happen when people feel safe enough to be themselves, and that’s what I strive to create at every wedding. My hope is that years from now, my couples won’t just remember how their wedding looked, they’ll remember exactly how it felt.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve never been afraid to take the leap when I believe in something wholeheartedly. I’ve always trusted my intuition, believed in myself, and had faith that if I was willing to put in the work, things would work out the way they were meant to. That doesn’t mean the path has been easy, but I’ve never wanted fear to be the reason I didn’t pursue a life that truly excited me.
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was leaving my full-time career as a retail district manager to pursue wedding photography. On paper, it didn’t make much sense. I was walking away from stability, a predictable paycheck, and the comfort of knowing exactly what the future looked like. But I couldn’t ignore the feeling that this was what I was created to do.
Even before that leap, I was all in. During my first year, I invested over $30,000, my entire savings at the time, into education, workshops, mentorships, travel, and building my business. It was a huge financial risk, especially without any guarantee of success. But I believed that if I wanted to build something extraordinary, I needed to be willing to invest in becoming the photographer my couples deserved.
Looking back, every major milestone in my business has come from taking a chance before I felt completely ready. Those risks taught me to trust myself, to keep learning, and to believe that growth happens outside of comfort.
Today, I don’t think of risk as something reckless. I think of it as believing in a vision that hasn’t happened yet and having the courage to take the next step anyway. I’m incredibly grateful I chose to bet on myself, because that decision has allowed me to build a career that fills me with purpose every single day. I now have the privilege of preserving some of life’s most meaningful moments for couples across the country, and that is a gift I’ll never stop being thankful for.
