Daily Inspiration: Meet Erick Alfaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erick Alfaro.

Hi Erick, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I officially started martial arts training with Grand Master Bill Clark in May 1985. From the beginning, I was a visionary and saw the importance of diversifying training. We trained in Songahm Taekwondo as our base and added Krav Maga, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Bjj, and Kali. Over the years I competed and won several championship titles and later earned the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt and the title of Master Instructor. In 2000 I certified with Krav Maga Worldwide and help brought Krav Maga to the Jacksonville area. In 2001-2004 I continued certifying in the advance levels of Krav with different organizations and in 2012 went through the Israeli Special Forces Krav Maga Instructor Certification. In November of 2009 we started the Warrior Krav Center for the adult market in the Jacksonville and surrounding areas. We specialize in complete self-defense and physical fitness. In 2012 we held our first Warrior Certification with only a few instructors and since then have grown exponentially having 3 certifications a year with 200-350 participants each certification. We have affiliates all over the USA, in Spain, Portugal, Canada, South America, and South Africa.

Warrior Krav Maga is a highly evolved system of combat. Developed and continually enhanced, Warrior Krav Maga emphasizes easy to learn techniques that have been battle-tested in real-life confrontations. Students learn to defend themselves against hostile actions, avoid injury, and quickly overcome their assailant. Krav Maga defenses address a variety of aggressive acts, such as punches, chokes, bearhugs, headlocks, grabs, ground attacks, as well as defenses against multiple attackers and attackers armed with a firearm, edge weapon, or blunt object. Techniques used in Krav Maga are based on instinctive movements and conditioned to make them tactical. Students apply the principles and techniques in a multitude of situations, even in unfamiliar or adverse circumstances, such as dark surroundings, sitting, or lying down; limited freedom; or under extreme stress and fatigue.

In addition, Krav Maga incorporates specialized training methods used to challenge students physically and mentally. This type of training also strengthens the spirit and develops the ability to deal with violent confrontations under stress. These training methods have been used by elite units and have proven themselves worthy in preparing for combat.

My personal goals are:
– Improve and empower our community with increased self-confidence, improved health, and good safety habits.
– Grow my center to 400 active members
– Increase profitability every month
– Grow our organization worldwide

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been challenging at times due to personal and professional reasons. I’ve been through multiple instructors and staff coming and going, 2 divorces, Covid lockdown, and family deaths.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
