Meet Brandon Rivera: The Bronx-Born Artist Turning Pain into Powerful Music
Brandon Rivera’s journey to becoming a rising star in the music industry has been anything but easy. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Donv3ra faced a tumultuous upbringing and struggled in school as a teenager. However, an unexpected turn of events set him on a path that would change his life forever.
A mistake in his school schedule placed Donv3ra in a piano class, which he initially thought was an error. Little did he know, this would be the catalyst for his musical career. Donv3ra quickly fell in love with the instrument and discovered a natural talent. Surrounded by artists and producers from a young age, he was inspired to start making beats and soon found himself freestyling and honing his skills as a rapper and singer.
The turning point came when Donv3ra’s cousin left some unused studio time. Encouraged to do whatever he wanted, Donv3ra created his first song, “Run It Up,” in 2018. From that moment on, he knew he had found his calling.
Donv3ra believes his raw emotion and authenticity set him apart in a crowded industry. He openly discusses his struggles with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD, using his platform to bring awareness to these common mental health issues. Through his music, he aims to provide a voice for those who feel misunderstood and alone.
As the owner of the clothing brand Xtravagant, Donv3ra frequently incorporates his brand into his lyrics. His favorite line, “we Xtravagant sitting on mills,” serves as a constant reminder of his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his brand.
With big dreams of becoming one of the industry’s biggest artists, Donv3ra is releasing a string of singles heading into the new year. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! We have went through the term trials and tribulations better than most people. Through being broke, homeless, unprepared and confused we have been through some of the roughest things to come living in the streets! I’d prefer to say outside it isn’t safe for many people outside. Not all of us make it or get into better situations, I will say thoe I am very happy to have been in my circumstances and situations due to never giving up. From lost files on my phones and computers that contain my audio files. Occurrences that placed me in jail being around some of the wrong people. Failed relationships with friends and woman! Losing relations with my family members! It’s been a work of art the things I’ve been through! This is why I used my music to speak about it just like so many others!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am donv3ra a musical artist! I usually stick to the genre of hip hop/ rap, I have a great variety of R&B and nother styles as well! We have started a clothing line and shoe line! Partnered with the name and expect to make more and go further!
