Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Singleton.
Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is Ashley, creative and owner of Fleurdetees! It was all a dream, literally! Let me take you down memory lane. In 2015, I had a dream, and the name “Fleurdetees” stuck with me for some time after that dream. After transitioning out of the army and returning to college, I had become bored with my daily routine. I would always hear friends and people around me say that they needed a custom shirt for different events and concerts to wear. I searched YouTube and played around with varying apps of designers and websites to create t-shirt designs but never entirely took myself seriously. So, in 2017, I bought a Cricut machine and decided to make my first custom t-shirt. Once I made my first sale, voila Fleurdetees was born!
Fleurdetees broke down: Fleur (Fleur-de-lis) French symbol used throughout Louisiana (which is where I’m from), and Tees (T-shirts).
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? No, not by a long shot! I was never the “artsy-craftsy” type of girl, but I loved designing things and the deep creative process. It took some time to get my first sale and to perfect my craft. It killed my confidence that I wanted to give up before I started. Being the resilient person I am, I spent late nights and early mornings practicing, networking, and marketing my products to take my business to the next level. I am self-taught in all the creative processes I use to create my work, and I take extreme pride in that.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for crafting custom clothing (socks, t-shirts, hats, and bags) and items such as key chains and car tags. I also specialize in graphic design to create logos and artwork for each item. Each client receives a fresh and unique reflection of their vision that I love bringing to life because normal is boring!
