Hello, I’m Angela, the proud owner of Aventurine Wellness. At Aventurine Wellness, our mission is to offer organic health and beauty products that bring out the best in you. My background uniquely equips me for this journey, having spent over 20 years in healthcare, 13 years as a dedicated nurse and earning a Reiki certification. My sister, Anntonette, a nurse with over 20 years of experience, has always championed the benefits of natural products. Supported by my Army Veteran husband Edward and my family, our village has provided prayers, encouragement, and strength that have been pivotal to our growth.
Growing up, I was inspired by my grandmother, great aunts, and mother, who crafted wonderful meals and organic remedies from scratch. They created cost-effective, natural solutions for ailments, aches, itching, and for promoting luxurious hair and radiant skin. This foundation was key in shaping my mindset and approach to health and beauty.
As a mom of children with asthma, sensitive skin, and eczema—one with psoriasis and another with severe tree nut allergies—I faced considerable challenges. But I was determined not to let these issues define us. My goal was to find or create products that would offer relief without causing irritation, especially for my young children. I wanted, no, needed my baby, my son, who is now 7 years old, to enjoy a simple bubble bath without the stress of harmful reactions. However, finding affordable, tree-nut-free products proved difficult, and the few available were prohibitively expensive.
This challenge ignited a spark within me, reminding me of my roots and the natural solutions my grandmother, great aunts, and mother used. This culminated in the birth of Aventurine Wellness, where we hand-make each product with care, ensuring they are safe, effective, and affordable. Today, we proudly offer a range of products that cater to sensitive skin, allergies, and other specific needs, proving that natural, organic solutions can be accessible and beneficial and affordable for everyone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have always had a strong desire to help and care for others, starting from a young age. This passion has guided my career path and now even in creating organic health and beauty products. Despite facing challenges, such as complicated childbirth and health issues, specialized physical therapy, I have learned the importance of self-care and self-love. It is essential to take time for ourselves, even in the midst of our busy lives. My journey has taught me the significance of holistic wellness, both inside and out. Through my experiences, I have gained a new perspective on life and the importance of slowing down to appreciate the little moments. It took stepping out of my comfort zone and trusting in myself and in God, a higher power, to start my business. As a mother, it is crucial for me to lead by example and show my children the value of perseverance and achievement.” Embracing challenges and transitions”, as Koyawebb’s beautiful post puts it, “is what propels us towards growth and transformation. Life itself is a dance, filled with ups and downs that ultimately make us stronger and more beautiful.”
In essence, this quote inspires an optimistic outlook on life’s inevitable ups and downs, underscoring their role in making you, me, us all stronger and more beautiful!
One of the many reasons I chose the name Aventurine Wellness is because Aventurine is the stone of opportunity. We all have an opportunity for holistic well-being and the self-care we all deserve.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My journey into healthcare began with various roles in dietary, followed by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and currently a Registered Nurse (RN). With over 20 years in healthcare, I’ve gained extensive experience. Alongside my nursing career, I’ve pursued certification in Reiki, enriching my approach to holistic healing.
Growing up with a tradition of using natural, organic products, I developed a passion for researching their efficacy and discovering alternatives suitable for diverse needs, including those with allergies like tree nuts.
