Hi Shlaya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shlaya and I’m a certified wedding planner. My very first event was a birthday party in 2013. It was for my niece who loved art and wanted a paint party. The kids had a blast and the adults loved the setup & how it was organized! After that, I was studying more about wedding planning & coordination, & was asked to plan a co-worker’s wedding. It was a very successful event. Everything ran smoothly & beautifully. After that wedding, I started Frozen in Time Events, a full-service wedding planning & coordination company that includes a month of coordination (also known as wedding management) & wedding design.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging obstacle I have faced has been starting over because we are a military family that moves around a lot. Fortunately, we have been stationed here for the last three years so I was really able to fully expand and network & plan some awesome events.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a certified wedding planner, which includes helping my couples stay on budget, connecting with vendors on their behalf, keeping them on track with their to do list before the big day & more! I specialize in wedding design and coordination, which includes a virtual layout of the room & table settings and day of coordination. I’m known for being so nice and fun! It’s a party & everyone should be enjoying it. My job is to take the stress away from the couple to ensure they have the best night of their lives. I’m most proud of my design skills, I started wedding designing about two years ago and have grown so much. I believe my approachability is what sets me apart from others, you will always find me with a smile on my face while working.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Don’t be afraid to reach out! Go to the different networking events & talk to someone new. I love to attend vendor networking events or zoom meetings, there are a ton of social media groups to get people started. It’s a tremendous help to start someone on their journey.
