Today we’d like to introduce you to Perke Robinson III.
Hi Perke, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I appreciate the opportunity to share a bit about our story. Being raised in Jacksonville, I have witnessed a great deal of growth, change, and progress in this area over the years.
My journey as a small business owner began as a sole proprietor after I was laid off from my job. Shortly after, I was given the opportunity to help out with a small family-owned business. That experience marked the beginning of my path—from working as an independent installer to eventually becoming the owner of Ponte Vedra Closets.
By taking the time to learn how to design and install closets from the previous owners, I adopted a simple but important philosophy: treat every project as if it were for our own home. We believe that by doing our best work for every customer, we earn the next opportunity through word-of-mouth referrals.
Today, Ponte Vedra Closets remains a family-owned small business built on that same foundation. We value the personal, one-to-one relationships we build with our customers, and we are grateful for every opportunity to serve our community.
As we continue to grow in 2026, we are excited to share the Ponte Vedra Closets story with a broader audience while staying true to the principles that helped us get here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner is very much like piloting a sailboat across a vast sea. There are peaks at the tops of the waves, as well as troughs along the way. Some days the wind fills the sails and pushes you forward quickly, while other days the wind barely blows and the sails seem to yearn for the slightest breeze.
Economic conditions, COVID, and fluctuations in the housing market are just some of the challenges we have had to navigate—much like everyone else.
During one particularly difficult time, a mentor and friend of mine sent me a coffee mug. Inside the mug was a simple inscription: “Calm Seas Never Made a Good Sailor.”
That message has stayed with me ever since. It serves as a reminder that challenges and rough waters are often what shape us, strengthen us, and ultimately make us better at what we do. The same is true when it comes to being a small business owner.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is being out in the field and bringing a design to life for our customers. There is a great sense of pride in creating something we have carefully planned and knowing that the finished product will enhance someone’s home—and hopefully make their daily life just a little easier.
Over the years, we have grown from offering basic home organization solutions to providing fully customized storage and design solutions for nearly every part of the home.
As our company continues to grow, we are especially excited about what lies ahead in 2026. We are expanding into painted and stained custom solutions, which allow for almost unlimited vision and creativity when designing spaces for our customers.

Growth opportunity is like a two edged sword sometimes. Too much growth too fast tends to creates many challenges and hurdles. Little or slower growth sometimes takes away from the ability to become something more than what we were yesterday.
