Conversations with Patricia Chatti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Chatti.

Hi Patricia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
During Covid I had an opportunity to tap into a market that was synonymous to my Bahamian culture which is creating woven bags and other home decor items from a plant called silvertop .this can only be found in the Bahamas and for many years no one had reinvented the wheel and done anything innovative or creative for almost 20 years . Having been a personal stylist , a producer of luxury vegan candles and soaps .. I decided I wanted to try my hand with merging my stylist eye with the element of fabrics , shapes and straw …

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The challenge was first researching all of the styles that were currently being offered.. and then looking for shapes , styles and constructs that were completely different from anything else … so I began toying around with couture designer styles and sometimes musing 1/2 of them together …. Once that was done I was on my way

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create luxury finished one of a kind straw handbags ,luggage,,shoes, table settings and decor , dolls both life size and regular sizes …

What’s next?
I am looking to expand my business throughout the USA preferably to boutique hotels , mom and pop stores…as items are hand crafted and not commercial I want that same authentic exclusivity, personal and intimate retail feel
