Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline
Hi Madeline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Close to 10 years ago, I purchased a camera kit to photograph my two young kids. They were toddlers and growing so fast and I wanted to be able to remember every bit of their childhood. My intention was never to start a business but as I posted photos of my children and shared with family and friends, the inquiries quickly came in. Before I knew it, the referrals began. About a year later, I decided my full time position in retail management was keeping me away from home so much more than I wished and I quit my job on a whim with the hopes that photography would sustain me financially until I could put my teaching degree to use. Fast forward almost a decade later, I never looked back. My photography business isn’t just my full time job, it is how I connect with friends, clients, the world. It has opened so many doors for me and connected me with so many people. It has taught me so much about celebrating life’s milestones and finding beauty in every moment. My favorite part of this journey has been connecting with so many moms in different stages of the motherhood journey. It has been so therapeutic for me as I navigate motherhood in all of its stages myself. I am forever thankful for the risk I took (with the support of my husband) and for the growth I have experienced as part of starting and growing a business from the ground up.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been very lucky that my experience has overall been a smooth journey with steady and healthy growth. I have been able to make changes to the business to support the different stages of life we have experienced as a family.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in family and newborn photography. This work is what I am most proud of. Documenting the connection between new parents and their babies (at any age) is my absolute favorite. I feel so lucky that so many families have continued to use my services through out the years which means getting to watch these babies grow up! I think that is a big part of what sets me apart from other family photographers. MY goal is to get to know these families on a personal level which will help me understand them, connect with them and serve them throughout the years.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey if you don’t intentionally connect with others. It has helped me so much to make other photographer friends and to also cheer for myself! It’s important to celebrate the milestones of your business even if sometimes it means celebrating those for yourself 😀
