Hi Kelsey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Kelsey Sparks, and I recently graduated from the University of Florida. In May 2023, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communications, and a minor in applied physiology and kinesiology. With graduating college a year early, I decided to stay a little longer in Gainesville, to work towards obtaining a master’s degree. In December 2024, I obtained a master’s degree from UF in Mass Communications and Digital Strategy. During my time at UF, I worked as a Digital Content Creator for the UF Student Life Department, where I managed the UF Student Life and UF Housing social media accounts. This past year, I have had the pleasure of working for the University Athletic Association and the UF Football Team as a Digital Content Creator and Social Media Creative Assistant. In this position, I was able to help gather photos and videos, edit and produce social media content, provide game-time coverage on the team’s social media channels, and aid in managing the social media accounts. Upon graduation, I moved back home to Jacksonville, Florida, and began working on starting up my very own social media agency, Socially Sparked. With this agency, my primary goal is to help businesses big and small with their digital marketing, social media presence, digital campaigns and overall social media strategy, so they can effectively reach their ideal clients. In college, my passion for social media marketing and digital strategy was sparked. Today, I am embarking on the journey of starting my own social media agency, Socially Sparked, to help businesses and other professionals to effectively promote their products and services on social media, to their target audiences. The future is bright for social media marketing, and Socially Sparked Agency is here to help businesses capitalize on the exponential growth digital marketing can bring to their businesses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a new business from the ground up is never a smooth road, but I will say that I have had a great experience so far starting Socially Sparked. Some struggles I have faced starting Socially Sparked has been diversifying my agency from other social media agencies out there, and building up my clientele in the very beginning, which is very common when you are first starting something new. However, I am very proud with the progress I have been able to make with Socially Sparked, in just a few short months, we have been able to build connections, build our clientele, and diversify ourself from other agencies in the area, with our fresh content ideas, retro marketing tactics and digital marketing strategies that other agencies may not be currently utilizing. No road in business will ever be smooth the whole way, but I have had a great experience so far starting this agency from the ground up, and I am very proud of the progress it has made since launching in February. Starting a new business can be exciting, nerve-wrecking, hectic and surreal, and I have surely felt every emotion throughout this process, and it has instilled in me the philosophy that you really can do anything you set your mind to, and to never be afraid to chase your dreams, because you miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take in life.

My main goal and purpose with this social media agency, is to help businesses who may not know how to improve their social media channels, or effectively market their products and services online, or maybe don’t know how to reach their target audience on social media through campaign optimization, by providing a variety of services and packages that will match their needs and take some of the pressure of their shoulders by making social media marketing easy!
What does success mean to you?
I define success by simply setting a goal and reaching it. I believe in the importance of setting goals for yourself in life, no matter how big or small they may be, as it gives you something to work towards and a sense of accomplishment when you reach your goals. I don’t believe success is a matter of how accomplished you are or by the amount of recognition you get from your peers, but rather your overall ability to achieve the goals you have set for yourself in life. The greatest success can be found within the small goals you set for yourself every day that then turn into daily habits, that eventually lead to great accomplishments throughout your life. In terms of business, success should not be determined by how many clients you bring in every day, or what your quarterly sales numbers look like, but rather how you have been able to accomplish the goals you have set for your business and what it has been able to accomplish within a set amount of time.
