Today we’d like to introduce you to Kazual .
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
We started in church. We were the male section of the youth choir. After singing together for a while, Playboi had a suggestion and thought we should start a singing group. He came up with the name Kazual (casual) from a conversation with his father about his personality. We all loved the name and, from then on, performed as Kazual. Playboi ( Pledz Hardaway III) E Jae (Eugene Burt Jr.) D-Mac (Damascus Hardaway) and Lil Gabe ( Gabriel Hardaway) performed in talent shows, school functions, churches, and theaters before showing up on the late-night hit show “It’s showtime at the Apollo.” Following that, we appeared on the Maury Show’s Next big superstars episode. Soon after, we appeared on NBC’s America’s Got Talent season 3. The group made it to the Top 40 in the show performing live in Hollywood. This catapulted our career, resulting in nationwide touring and the release of three studio albums. Kazual continues to release music and tour worldwide. Most recently performing for countries like Micronesia and Kazakhstan. Both physically and virtually.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth. Deciding to be an Independent Artist can be challenging but very rewarding. We decide as a team what to sing, how to dress, and every other aspect of the Kazual Experience. This allows us to give our fans 100% of us. Anything worth it comes with its challenges. We all know how bad it was in 2020 due to Covid. But even though that, we found ways to push through and expand our fan base virtually. Now we have more fans than ever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We spent a lot of time singing A Capella at the beginning of our careers. So that’s what we are known for. I guess you would call that the “specialty, “ lol. Working with American Music Abroad (AMA) is probably what we’re most proud of. Through AMA and the United States Embassy, we’ve reached other countries through their musical exchange program. We not only teach them through our musical experience but learn about their music and culture as well. We are proud music ambassadors of our country.
What does success mean to you?
We define success by what we accomplish. As children, we dreamed of performing on the “big stage.” We’ve accomplished that and so much more, with so much more to come. Our success is still in the making. We strive to be better than we were the day before. Success is an infinite thought to us. It’s the measurement of continued prosperity. We are so blessed to be able to wake up every morning and do what we love. Many people can’t say that.
