Conversations with Kai Neufville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kai Neufville.

Hi Kai, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out rapping with my cousins, it use to be like 3 of us to a room. The moment I knew that I should take this seriously is when people would ask me if I make music or just rap for fun and everyone around me supported me pushing me to go further with it from the age of 9.. I grew up in Mount Vernon, New York—where concrete blocks carried the echoes of old-school hip hop, and everybody knew somebody who knew somebody. It was a small city with a big heart, and it raised me tough, sharp, and creative. The winters were cold, the people real, and the streets? They taught you lessons fast. Music was my escape—my headphones were always on, beats in my head louder than the noise outside.

But life doesn’t stay still.

When my family decided to move down to Atlanta, it felt like someone hit the switch on everything I knew. New streets, new slang, new faces. Atlanta was different—slower in some ways, faster in others. Everyone was chasing something, and music was deeper in the culture, like it was part of the air. It inspired me, but I was still trying to find my voice in a place where I felt like an outsider.

Then Florida came next. Another shift. Palm trees instead of concrete. Sunshine, but not always warmth. It was hard staying grounded when the scenery kept changing. Each time I started to build something—connections, momentum—I had to rebuild it all over again. That’s the part people don’t talk about enough: how moving can make you feel like you’re starting from scratch every time.

But through all of it, the music never left. My lyrics carried Mount Vernon’s grit, Atlanta’s soul, and Florida’s light. It was hard—switching coasts, chasing dreams, trying to stay consistent in a world that kept changing. But those struggles shaped the sound. The bounce between cities made the story richer. And now, I’m not just from one place. I’m built from all of them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A challenge I faced is adaption, I was silent a whole year in duval before I was able to adapt to this environment, me being from a city up north and moving down south I had to regain connections amongst locals. But now I’ll say it’s worth it. The youth in the city love me and I love them .

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
