Today we’d like to introduce you to Jannai Wilkins.
Hi Jannai, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Jannai Wilkins, and today I wear a few different hats. I am an entrepreneur and the proud owner of a home care agency in the state of Florida, Shareem’s Touch Love & Care LLC. But today, I am stepping into another title that fills me with immense pride: Author.
To be completely honest, I never thought I would become an entrepreneur. However, I always knew deep down in my heart that I would someday be an author. I have a story—a story where, if you look at me today, you would never guess what I have actually been through to get to this point.
The turning point that got me to where I am today was simply finding the courage to finally tell that story. I realized there are so many people out there who can relate to my experiences, but they are currently feeling stuck. They may not know how to overcome profound grief, how to heal from their deepest traumas, or how to navigate the darkest seasons of their lives.
For years, I told myself, “I could write a book about this.” But it wasn’t until I committed to being entirely vulnerable that my book, Born To Live Again: A Journey to Restoration, Resilience and Purpose, was truly born. I wrote this to be a beacon of hope and a roadmap. I want to show people that no matter how shattered your pieces might feel right now, restoration is possible—you can find your purpose, and you absolutely can live again.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road. To get to where I am today, I had to walk through some of the heaviest, most painful valleys a person can experience.
When people see a successful business owner or a published author, it’s easy to look at the destination and miss the grueling journey it took to get there. My road was paved with profound grief and deep personal traumas—moments where the weight of life felt completely crushing. Beyond the personal heartaches, transitioning into entrepreneurship with Shareem’s Touch Love & Care LLC brought its own steep learning curves.
But when it came to the book, the challenge shifted from surviving the trauma to reliving it, which sparked an intense internal battle.
As the first-time author in my family, I was incredibly nervous and downright terrified. Some of the traumas I needed to share didn’t just affect me—they impacted my family as well. For a long time, a war raged in my mind: Do I share this, or do I keep it to myself?
Ultimately, writing Born To Live Again required breaking through that terror. Some of the biggest struggles along the way included:
. Overcoming the Internal Battle: Fighting the fear of judgment and deciding to speak my raw truth out loud, even when it felt risky.
. Reliving the Pain to Find Power: Discovering that as I wrote, I was actually becoming free and liberated from the years of shame, guilt, and condemnation left behind by those traumas.
. Balancing the Demands: Managing the daily operations of my home care agency while pouring my heart and soul into pages that had to be perfect for the readers waiting for them.
Looking back, I realize that the road was rocky for a reason. I was reminded during the hardest writing days that this book isn’t just about me. It is about others—and my own family—becoming completely free and liberated. Those very struggles gave me the resilience I needed to turn my history into a roadmap for generational restoration.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the core of everything I do is a deep passion for healing, restoration, and human connection. Today, my purpose comes to life through two distinct but deeply connected roles: Entrepreneur and Author. Professionally, I am the founder of Shareem’s Touch Love & Care LLC, a home care agency in Florida. We specialize in providing compassionate, high-quality care that allows individuals to maintain their dignity, comfort, and independence at home.
In the literary world, I am the author of “Born To Live Again: A Journey to Restoration, Resilience and Purpose.” Here, my specialty is emotional transparency. I take heavy, often unspoken topics—like profound grief, deep trauma, sexual abuse, and generational pain—and transform them into a practical, faith-filled roadmap for healing. My mission with this first book is to show readers how to navigate the darkest, most private valleys of their lives and step into total restoration.
I am most proud of choosing vulnerability over comfort. Stepping up as the first author in my family was terrifying, especially when shedding light on sensitive traumas like sexual abuse, but I refused to let fear silence my story. I am incredibly proud that “Born To Live Again” isn’t just a memoir about survival—it is a catalyst for liberation. It represents the exact moment I broke the cycle of shame, guilt, and condemnation for myself, my family, and every reader who picks it up. This journey of empowerment is so vital to me that it has already laid the foundation for book two, which I am actively working on right now to continue guiding others toward ultimate purpose.
What sets me apart is simple: I am not teaching theory; I am sharing a lived blueprint. My home care agency isn’t just a business venture; it is built on the exact same empathy and compassion I had to develop while surviving my own trials.
Furthermore, there is a powerful contrast in my life. When people look at me today, they see a successful, polished entrepreneur. They don’t see the shattered pieces I had to put back together. That contrast allows me to meet people exactly where they are. I can sit with someone in their darkest hour of grief or trauma and say with absolute certainty: “I know the way out of this valley, because I have walked it myself.” Ultimately, I am here to prove to the world that no matter what you have been through, you can absolutely live again.
As I look toward the future, my journey as an author and my mission to help others heal is only expanding. While my first book, “Born To Live Again,” focuses on breaking through initial trauma, overcoming generational silence, and finding your footing, I am so excited to officially announce what is coming next. I am currently pouring my heart into my second book, titled “Forged in The Ruin: The Grace Standard for Life After Divorce.”
This next project dives deep into a very specific kind of valley—the profound heartbreak, identity shifts, and spiritual rebuilding process that happens when a marriage ends. In it, I examine God’s original design and the true purpose of marriage, while directly addressing the biblical grounds for divorce, showing that this is about navigating a painful reality and not just choosing divorce out of mere convenience. I wrote this book to help readers overcome the deep grief of a failed marriage while actively breaking down the heavy religious condemnation and shame that so often surrounds it.
Ultimately, it is designed to show readers how to extend radical grace to themselves in the midst of life’s ruins, and how to beautifully piece their lives back together from a place of spiritual truth. My goal with this next release is to continue being a voice of absolute transparency, proving to the world that no matter what has been broken or ruined in your life, God’s grace is sufficient, and you can still stand up, uncover your true purpose, and live again.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My childhood memory is a beautiful mixture of many things, but my absolute favorites are our family dinners, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. Looking back, those holiday moments felt like the times when the family was truly at its happiest. There was this undeniable sense of unity, excitement, love, and joy filling the room, and most importantly, everyone was there together.
I often find myself reflecting on those precious moments because, as time has passed, our family dynamics have naturally changed. Holding onto those memories keeps me grounded, and it reminds me of the power of connection and love. It’s that exact feeling of warmth and unity that I strive to recreate in my life today, both in the compassionate care we provide at my agency and in the healing space I share with my readers.
