Conversations with Eric Goldstein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Goldstein.

Hi Eric , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been obsessed with music since I was a child and got my first guitar when I was 14. After retiring from the day job world in 2019, I became a full time performer and a host of open mic/music showcases.

My first hosting job in Jacksonville was at American Legion Post 129 in Jax Beach. Later I hosted at both Culhane’s Irish Pub locations and I now host 2-3 nights per month at Island Wings on Racetrack Road and monthly at Timoti’s Seafood Shak in Nocatee. My events are prebooked music showcases and feature talent from all over the first coast area.

As far as performing, I currently play with 2 groups and occasionally as a solo artist. Lady & the Tramp, which features Casey Elise on vocals and me on guitar and vocals play pop and rock hits from the 60s to today along with original music as we are both songwriters. We also occasionally play as a 5 piece band. My other duo is PV Blues Project which plays an eclectic mix of blues, rock and country and features me on guitar & vocals and Mark Hewitt on harmonica. We also often add a lead guitarist and play as a trio.

I love to play, to write songs, to host and to entertain. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to make and share music with our community!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have absolutely bern struggles along the way, but it’s all been worth it. Covid was tough. I had only moved here in 2019 and was just getting my foot in the door when everything shut down and basically had to start over from scratch in 2021. Thankfully, my good friend and talented local musician, Judith Keller, recommended me to the Jax Beach American Legion to be an open mic host and that helped get the ball rolling again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think my biggest strengths as a performer are my stage presence and song writing ability. I have put out 2 albums of original music, an all acoustic disc called “Somewhere in the Sky” in 2018 and an album called “Small Town Nights” in 2023. Small Town Nights was recorded locally at Stay Tuned Studio and features a great back up band of local musicians.

I’m also proud of the fact that so many musicians enjoy playing my showcases and have complimented me on my ability to run their sound. I love running the sound board and doing my best to make each artist sound amazing!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Besides music, I also love Phila Eagles football and dogs, especially my sweet little pup Ozzy!
