Conversations with Deb Chapin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deb Chapin.

Hi Deb, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am an entrepreneur who is passionate about celebrating life and creating gatherings that bring friends, family, and community together. At its heart, my work is about helping people honor life’s meaningful moments — from welcoming a new child and celebrating birthdays, graduations, weddings, and holidays, to gathering in remembrance and celebration of loved ones. Additionally, I enjoy collaboration with other professionals to create themed events and experiences.
Life is full of milestones, and the memories created through shared experiences often shine brighter than life’s challenges, routines, or setbacks. I come from a large family with seven siblings, where celebrations were a way of life. Every birthday, holiday, and milestone was shared with family, friends, and our community — a tradition that shaped who I am today.
Now, I have the joy of helping others create the experiences they envision: gatherings that foster connection, celebrate togetherness, and build lasting memories within our community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“The road leading to this point has included many diversions. Turning a vision into reality always comes with challenges, and in event planning those challenges often involve balancing expectations with budgets, preparing for the unexpected—such as weather, attendance, and last-minute changes—and adapting when plans shift. These moments are simply part of life. We recognize these challenges and approach them with flexibility, problem-solving, and a commitment to creating the best possible experience.”

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have a diverse background spanning corporate business development, nonprofit leadership, and community advocacy, including experience in international marketing, co-founding nonprofits, and serving in advisory board roles. I remain actively engaged in local business networks and value the relationships that come from staying connected within the community.
At my core, I am a collaborator who believes in connecting people and ideas beyond defined roles or titles. I take time to understand objectives, vision, and budget to create thoughtful experiences — from simple gatherings to interactive events — while continually learning and drawing from a wide range of resources across entertainment, cuisine, and activities.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
“I have been fortunate to learn from many mentors and collaborators along the way—from supportive family and friends to SCORE mentors, retired executives who generously share their expertise and provide valuable guidance tailored to each organization. I have also benefited from the strong support and collaboration of the Women’s Food Alliance (WFA), led by Leigh Cort, a highly respected hospitality professional with a broad and accomplished background. Through her leadership, WFA has brought together an inspiring group of women who support one another and remain committed to pursuing their dreams in hospitality and entertainment.”
