Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Gilyard.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started as a 3-year-old girl whose mother died & I don’t know really how she died, I’ve never seen a picture of her! My birth father signed his rights over to the States and was placed in foster care! I got adopted at the age of 11 yrs old! I endured many hardships as a young adult, figuring life out on my own with no family support! I had 4 kids and went through so many struggles and obstacles! I moved out of state to get away from it all with my kids, got married, divorced & ended up back in Jacksonville for almost 5 years. Worked my butt off, changed my mindset & began my self-healing journey & my life has been going upward ever since now I remarried, in my dream career journey! I’m still on my healing journey, getting over so much, and I get stronger each day. ☺️❤️
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it wasn’t easy at all! I’ve been homeless before, we had to stay in hotels & a shelter as well! I was in an abusive relationship, being a single mom of 4, and also learning to be a woman & mother from a woman who was alone herself. It was tough, but somehow & God didn’t give up & still growing & evolving beautifully.
Thanks for sharing that. So, tell us more about your work next.
I was a patient care tech at the hospital before I was a braider on & off for 16 years.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Please share something that might surprise us.
I deal with bad anxiety! I get overwhelmed & have to isolate myself from the world & everyone a lot to keep my mind & all my duties of life in order.
