Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelique Barbara.
Hi Angelique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved animals and have owned animals since I was a small child. I was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in a small fishing town called Gloucester. I convinced my mother to allow me to take horseback riding lessons when I was 5 and purchased my first horse at 11.
I have owned horses ever since then. I moved to Arizona when I graduated from high school to attend the University of Arizona. While I was there, I earned a BS in Veterinary Science and an MS in Veterinary Pathobiology.
I was planning to become a veterinary pathologist, but I started to become more holistic oriented with my animals (and my own health) which led me to enroll in chiropractic school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida. While I was in chiropractic school, I started applying the techniques I learned to animals which led to the development of my animal bodywork courses.
I am the founder of Angel’s Animals Holistic Animal Studies which is a company that offers online animal bodywork courses. We currently provide practitioners all over the world with courses on animal massage, body alignment, craniosacral therapy, kinesiology taping, reiki, nutrition, rehabilitation, and more!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With any new business, it can be slow in the beginning. Fortunately, I found a niche that had a need for more available training. I was one of the first people to bring techniques like animal kinesiology taping to the online education world.
People in remote areas of the world such as Kenya or rural USA and Canada were able to enroll in our courses and learn techniques that they normally would not have had access to. Because of this many, more animals have been able to benefit from these amazing and beneficial modalities.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been passionate about animals my entire life and have spent the majority of my life studying animals (both in the classroom and field). I developed my first animal bodywork seminar in 2009 and since that time my seminars have grown both in number and popularity.
I figured out how to fine-tune the online learning experience so that students could easily and effectively learn the techniques. My background in both the clinical and research animal health care world as well as my experience as a human chiropractor gives me a unique perspective on animal bodywork, which is evident in my courses.
I am the proudest of my students and practitioners because they amaze me every day when I read their case studies and hear their success stories. Knowing that animals all over the world are benefiting from these techniques makes all my hard work worth it.
What do you think about luck?
That is difficult to say. My business has been very successful and how much of that can be contributed to luck… I’m not sure. I do know that I have learned over the years that hard work, dedication, and positive intentions will always lead to success. When your heart is in the right place, success will follow.
