Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Wolsifer.
Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I got divorced, I was left with how to support my daughter and me. I prayed for a way to support her but also for something I could do to help others. I basically had to start completely over when I got divorced from scratch. My father struggled with a lot of pain in his back and knees and I wanted to help him in some way. I started googling massage.
I really enjoyed learning about it. So I researched schools and joined Alpha School of massage. That year was so hard! I got up at 5 am worked, took a break from work to get my daughter ready for school, and dropped her off at school, then finished working till 2:30 pm. After that, I got ready for school and went to school till 10 pm.
Then when I got home, I had to study and get ready for the next day. Most nights, I wouldn’t go to sleep till 1 am or so. Just to catch up on everything. It was so hard but I didn’t give up because I needed to give my daughter the future she deserves. I needed to be able to support her. Thank heavens for the strength from God. Also, my parents, family, and friends. Who really helped me take care of my daughter, Olivia. I ended up loving massage and everything about it. I love helping people feel instantly better. So, when I graduated I was super blessed to have clients from the school want to switch over to my business when I opened.
I opened in March of last year. It took a lot of time to get my name out there but the growth happened. I ended up getting covid, in a car crash and lost my best friend, Kate to cancer all within the first couple months of opening a business. With the grace and strength of God, I got through and so did my business. I have really been blessed with great clients, family, and friends. When going through trials in life, you always come out a wiser, stronger person. I am grateful I have gone through the downs to prepare me for the ups! It takes strong people to run businesses.
My businesses name is Sweet Magnolia Massages it’s located in Orange Park, FL. I offer deep tissue or Swedish massage with hot stones, hot towels, and aromatherapy. I also just opened a mobile massage business with Steve Howard from Unknottednv and it’s called Couples Mobile Massage. We offer 4 hand massages, couples massage, and individual massage. I can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for my business and for me!
I eventually would like to open a spa that’s all about relaxation with a massage, yoga, meditation, and much more! Just to be able to relax and heal the soul.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I mentioned it previously but no! Definitely not! Haha. I got Covid and was quarantined for 10 days! I got into a car crash. Someone hit me going 45 when I was stopped from behind. I had to go to the hospital.
I ended up having a herniated disc in my back and my car had $12,000 in damages. I went through months of therapy to help my back and 4 months without a car. Doing mobile massages is impossible without a car.
I lost my best friend, Kate to cancer a couple of days after the accident. It was a hard couple of months.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sweet Magnolia Massages?
I am a massage therapist and have owned my business for almost a year. It’s called Sweet Magnolia Massages. I provide Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy, Hot Stone, Barefoot, and Sports massage. I’m known for finding knots fast and getting them out. I’m really good at helping relieve pain and getting deep into the tissues.
I have a lot of clients with stiff necks and backs that can’t get any relief otherwise. You see instant results, it’s amazing! I have recently started a business with Unknottednv (Steve Howard). We started offering 4 hand massages. It’s rare to see anyone offer because it’s hard to find two massage therapists that have the same pressure and can cohesively massage a client.
Steve and I have created this “in heaven” 4 hand massage. At least that’s what our clients say that have had it. But it’s two massage therapists massaging you at the same time but cohesively! We also provide mobile couples and individual mobile massages as well.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Steve and I have a lot of ideas moving forward. We do think a lot more people will be focusing on getting massages in their homes. Who doesn’t want to get a massage in the comfort of their own home and then just be able to take nap or go to sleep after?
We think it will shift to more mobile massage therapists and fewer chain massage therapy businesses.
