Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve owned Kyds children’s boutique (located in Neptune Beach, FL) with my twin sister, Melody Joy Snelen, for the past nine years (since 2016). Before that, I was a tennis professional— traveling the world, but after getting married and having two sons, I wanted a career that would allow me to stay active in their lives and rooted in my community while pursuing something of my own. Owning a children’s store felt like the perfect fit—it combined my love for style, family, and community while giving me the flexibility I was looking for. Through years of learning, growth, determination, and guidance from incredible mentors, Kyds has become a thriving business with a loyal, supportive customer base that truly feels like family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing in life is ever a completely smooth ride, and owning a children’s boutique is no exception. There are always challenges — from balancing work and family life to dealing with those unexpected curveballs that come with running a small business. Some days everything falls into place, and other days you really have to lean on your experience, problem-solving skills, and determination to push through the hurdles. But every challenge has taught me something valuable and made the journey that much more rewarding.

Kyds Children’s Boutique in Neptune Beach is a fun and welcoming shop filled with clothing, gifts, toys, accessories, and shoes for newborns through tweens. We also carry Riddle — a luxurious fragrance line for adults — along with a few stylish pieces for ladies who love treating themselves to something special.
Everything in the store is chosen with thoughtful intention with families in mind — from playful outfits kids love to wear to gifts that bring a smile. What really sets us apart is the personal touch and the connection we have with our
customers and community.
Giving back is a big part of who we are, and we’re proud to support local schools, charities, and causes that make a difference right here at the beach and beyond. Kyds is more than just a boutique — it’s a happy place where style, family, and heart all come together.
How do you think about happiness?
So many things make me happy! My family is always at the top of the list — they’re my greatest joy and constant source of inspiration. As a homeschool mom, seeing my sons learn, grow, and thrive brings me so much happiness and fills my heart with gratitude. They motivate me to work hard, stay grounded, and appreciate life’s little moments. I’m so thankful to God for the many blessings in my life and for giving me the strength and opportunities to do what I love. I also find so much joy in playing tennis, traveling, managing my business, spending time with my friends, being outdoors — and of course, a little shopping always makes me smile too!
