Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Bell.
Hi Paula, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always thought I was going to become a veterinarian. I started college studying animal science and earned my associate degree with that path in mind, but somewhere along the way, I realized the medical side of things wasn’t where I felt most at home. What never changed was my love for dogs and my drive to work with them in a meaningful way.
After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I spent time working in different areas of the pet industry—helping dog trainers, pet sitting, dog walking, and eventually managing at a corporate dog-focused business. Each role taught me something, but I was still figuring out where I really fit.
Everything shifted when I was given the chance to train under a master groomer. It clicked almost immediately. Grooming brought together patience, skill, and trust in a way that just made sense to me. I went on to get certified through the American Kennel Club, and for the first time, I felt confident I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
That’s what led me to start Barking Bubbles Mobile Pet Spa. My focus is simple: making sure every dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for. The mobile setup allows for a calmer, more personal experience and gives me the ability to advocate for each dog in a way that really matters.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building Barking Bubbles Mobile Pet Spa has been incredibly rewarding, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. One of the biggest transitions was stepping away from the stability of a reliable paycheck into the uncertainty of entrepreneurship. Managing fluctuating income while growing a business required trust in the long-term vision, along with discipline and adaptability.
Shifting from working within established companies to running every aspect independently also came with a learning curve—balancing client care with scheduling, operations, and overall growth. In mobile grooming specifically, there are added challenges like maintaining equipment, managing time on the road, and ensuring each dog receives consistent, high-quality care in a changing environment.
Building trust within the community has been another key part of the journey. Earning the confidence of clients and caring for pets at such a personal level takes time and consistency.
While the road hasn’t always been smooth, each challenge has strengthened the foundation of the business and reinforced a commitment to providing a safe, calm, and personalized experience for every dog.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barking Bubbles Mobile Pet Spa?

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One big resource that I listen to is “Another Grooming Podcast” I enjoy listening because it combines education and entertainment in the dog industry.
