Community Highlights: Meet Melisha Christian of Alsies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melisha Christian.

Hi Melisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Retired U.S. Air Force veteran and Jacksonville native, I returned home after completing my military career in New Mexico with a long-standing goal: to build something of my own. That vision led to the purchase of Alsie’s Ice Cream Truck, a modern take on a nostalgic favorite.

Alsie’s blends classic ice cream truck charm with 2026-ready technology. Through the Alsie’s app, customers can track the truck in real time, request stops, and book private events—all from their phone. The result is a seamless, community-focused experience that brings convenience, fun, and innovation together.

In addition to entrepreneurship, I currently serve as a JROTC instructor at Westside High School, where I continue my commitment to leadership development, mentorship, and community engagement.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For this business, the primary challenges are seasonality and revenue variability, common to service-based and mobile food businesses. These risks are managed through diversified revenue streams, advance event bookings, franchise operational support, and technology-driven demand planning.

We’ve been impressed with Alsies, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Alsies serves gourmet ice cream sandwiches, local fruit popsicles & traditional bars & cones.
