Hi Kevin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I walked away from the corporate world to pursue owning a business. My brother and I started this business together, and it has now grown to 3 cities in FL (Jacksonville, Pensacola, and Orlando). We work with individual homeowners to apartment complexes and businesses. I love creating an outdoor retreat for my clients that enables them to extend their living area to the outdoors.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
No. We made many mistakes initially; however, I would not be where I am today without learning from those mistakes. Learning all of the “little” things needed to run a business, such as bookkeeping, overhead, and managing payroll, has been interesting.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an outdoor landscape lighting company that takes great pride in creating a relaxing outdoor living paradise. I enjoy bringing to life a pool area with creative colored lighting.
How do you define success?
I used to think it was money!! Now I firmly believe success can be whatever you want it to be. So for me, it has the time to enjoy my family and friends. Yes, money allows me the freedom to do this. I am a retired military officer that missed out on so much with my family in the early years that now I am trying to make up for a lost time. Having my own business gives me the flexibility to dictate my weekly schedule.
Pricing:
- So many variables involved with outdoor lighting, from basic, all the way to full wifi coloring changing systems. I would say that a standard lighting package for a home is around 10 light fixtures and this would start out at around $3,000 fully installed
- I have had large projects that had several hundred lights and the total cost was near $160,000
