Hi Jessica , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Southern Reflection Photography was born in January 2019 from a passion I’ve had for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been fascinated by photography because of its ability to freeze a single moment in time—a memory you can revisit over and over again with just one photograph.
My journey began at local livestock shows, where I loved capturing students and the animals they had worked so hard to raise. Watching the pride, dedication, and emotion in those moments inspired me to start documenting them for others. Before long, my very first paid session was a senior session for a friend, and that’s when I realized this dream could become something bigger.
Since then, my passion has only grown. Whether I’m photographing seniors, families, couples, or livestock exhibitors, my goal is always the same: to create genuine, timeless images that tell your story. I believe the best photographs aren’t just beautiful—they’re meaningful. They’re the moments you’ll look back on years from now and remember exactly how life felt in that season.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many small business owners, one of my biggest challenges has been learning to recognize the value of my work. For years, I believed everyone deserved beautiful, high-quality photos at a price they could afford—and I still believe that. Preserving memories shouldn’t feel out of reach for families.
Because of that, I often struggled with pricing my sessions. I found it difficult to charge what my time, experience, and investment were truly worth because my heart was focused on serving others. Over time, I realized that valuing my work doesn’t mean I’ve lost sight of my mission. It simply allows me to continue providing the quality, care, and experience my clients deserve while keeping Southern Reflection Photography growing for years to come.
There was also a season where my business took a back seat as I pursued another passion—teaching agricultural education. Even then, I continued photographing sessions whenever I could because photography has always been a part of who I am. When I became a stay-at-home mom, I was able to pour my heart back into my business with renewed purpose and excitement.
Every challenge has shaped me into the photographer I am today. It has taught me the importance of balancing passion with purpose, serving others while valuing my craft, and never losing sight of why I started: to preserve the moments you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

At Southern Reflection Photography, my goal is simple: to preserve the moments that matter most. I specialize in creating timeless, authentic images that tell your story, whether it’s a senior milestone, a growing family, a couple in love, or the hard work and dedication of livestock exhibitors.
One of the things that sets my business apart is my agricultural background. As a former agricultural educator and someone who has spent years around the livestock industry, I understand the countless early mornings, late nights, and dedication that go into raising an animal. Those aren’t just photos to me—they’re memories of years of hard work, family support, and personal growth. Being able to capture those moments is incredibly meaningful.
Beyond livestock photography, I strive to create a relaxed, enjoyable experience for every client. I know not everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera, so I focus on making sessions fun, natural, and stress-free. My goal is for you to leave not only with beautiful images but with memories of an experience you genuinely enjoyed.
What I’m most proud of is the community and relationships Southern Reflection Photography has built since opening in 2019. Many of my clients have become friends, and watching families grow, seniors graduate, couples get married, and young exhibitors accomplish their dreams has been one of the greatest blessings of this journey.
More than anything, I want people to know that when they book with Southern Reflection Photography, they’re getting more than a photographer. They’re getting someone who genuinely cares about their story and is passionate about preserving it with images they’ll treasure for generations.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What brings me the most joy is walking alongside my clients through every season of life. There is something incredibly special about meeting a couple for the first time, then getting the honor of photographing their engagement, wedding, maternity session, and eventually welcoming their babies into the world. Watching families grow while preserving each milestone along the way is a privilege I’ll never take for granted.
Knowing that my photographs become part of a family’s legacy—that they’ll be displayed on walls, shared with future generations, and looked back on for years to come—is what makes this job so rewarding. Those images become more valuable with time, and being trusted to create them is something I don’t take lightly.
I also love welcoming new clients into the Southern Reflection Photography family. Every session is an opportunity to tell a unique story, build a genuine relationship, and create an experience that leaves people feeling comfortable, confident, and cared for. Whether it’s your very first session with me or your tenth, my goal is always the same: to capture authentic memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
