Today we’d like to introduce you to Jan Rice.
Hi Jan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got my real estate license in January of 2019 after taking the exam for the second time—all while serving on active duty in the United States Navy. At the time, real estate wasn’t part of my long-term plan, but a close family friend saw my heart for service and encouraged me to get licensed and start helping families. That one conversation changed everything.
Coming from the military, service, discipline, and accountability were already deeply ingrained in who I am. I didn’t see real estate as a sales career—I saw it as another way to serve. The same values that guided me in the Navy quickly became the foundation of my business: showing up, doing the right thing, staying calm under pressure, and always putting people first.
My journey has been a true rollercoaster—full of highs, lows, lessons, and growth. Building a real estate career while serving active duty wasn’t easy, but it taught me resilience and reinforced my belief that success comes from consistency, integrity, and perseverance. Every challenge sharpened me, and every setback prepared me for the next level.
Today, I’m incredibly grateful for where I stand and proud of the path that brought me here. I’m even more excited for what’s ahead—continuing to serve families, especially those relocating or transitioning like I once did, and helping them confidently step into their next chapter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all—and I think it’s important to be honest about that. This journey came with a lot of ups and downs. I was serving full-time on active duty in the military while trying to build a real estate career part-time, and there were times when it felt like I was being pulled in a hundred different directions.
I was learning real estate from scratch—contracts, negotiations, systems—while also managing family life and navigating deployments. There were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and overwhelm, where I questioned whether I could realistically do both. Balancing two demanding careers while trying to grow in a completely new industry was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
I also moved through three different brokerages along the way, and each transition came with its own challenges. Some experiences forced me to unlearn things, let go of expectations, and face hard truths. Others required me to stay open, adaptable, and willing to grow—even when it was uncomfortable. Not every step felt like progress in the moment, but every step taught me something valuable.
There were no shortcuts in this process. A lot of it was trial and error, learning the hard way, and showing up even when I was tired or unsure. But those struggles built the foundation for who I am today—stronger, more grounded, and more confident in the way I serve my clients and lead my business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’ve been licensed in real estate for nearly seven years, and in January of 2025, I officially launched my team. What makes that moment so meaningful is that prior to that, I was a sole agent who had already helped over 200 families buy and sell homes. Building a team wasn’t about ego or expansion for the sake of growth—it was about impact. I reached a point where I knew I could serve more people, and serve them better, by building something bigger than myself.
Today, my team and I specialize in helping relocating families, veterans, and active-duty military service members—both from across the country and from overseas—navigate the transition into Northeast Florida. This work is deeply personal to me because I’ve lived it. I understand the stress, the timelines, the uncertainty, and the importance of having someone you can truly trust in your corner.
At the same time, we also work with higher-end buyers and sellers, including clients relocating for retirement and lifestyle changes, with a strong focus on homes priced at $600,000 and above. Whether a client is purchasing their first home, relocating on military orders, or buying a luxury or retirement property, our standard of service never changes.
What sets us apart is how we operate. Our business is built on ethics, integrity, education, and transparency. We don’t believe in rushing clients or treating real estate like a transaction. We take the time to educate our clients, walk them through every step of the process, and make sure they feel confident and informed—not pressured.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the experience we provide. Every client, every family, every transaction matters. My goal—and my team’s goal—is to continue growing while never losing that personal touch. If our readers take one thing away, I want them to know this: we are a service-driven brand, rooted in trust, and committed to delivering an exceptional experience to every family we have the honor of serving.
