Community Highlights: Meet Erica Milam of Erica Milam Virtual Assistant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Milam.

Hi Erica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Florida native, wife, and mom of two who is known for her love of sunshine, blue water, and white sandy beaches. I am also a master’s prepared nurse who decided the hospital life was no longer a good fit.

The last few years have been rough trying to juggle that work/life balance, as many of you all can relate. I knew I not only wanted more work/life balance but also desperately needed it! I heard about virtual assisting a few years ago, but I wasn’t sure where to even start! Over time, the thought of diving into virtual assisting never left my mind, and this past summer I decided to start the process of opening up my own Virtual Assistant business.

I signed up with a mentor and a few weeks later had a solid foundation (and confidence) to publicly announce the opening of Erica Milam Virtual Assistant. I currently support a few different local business owners/entrepreneurs as well as a few across the country.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Once I finally took the plunge and signed up with a mentor the process was smooth. She was, and is, so amazing! I can guarantee I would not be where I am today without her knowledge. Prior to finding my mentor, I struggled most with the nagging “Imposter Syndrome” and lagging mindset.

So many thoughts of “I can’t do this”, “That girl does it so much better than me”, “I have no idea what I am even doing” and “There is just no way this will work out”. Working through the course I gained more confidence and realized I already had so many skills in place that were easily transferable into the virtual assisting world.

I have been working to build my business and every day is a new learning day! Those negative thoughts attempt to creep in from time to time but every day I work to set the positive tone, overcome obstacles, increase my knowledge in an area I might be lacking and choose to take on new things!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Erica Milam Virtual Assistant?
I am a Virtual Assistant who helps other business owners/entrepreneurs manage all the small things so they can focus on the bigger picture. I work strictly remotely so I am able to work for almost anyone in any time zone or country!

The beauty of hiring me onto your team is that I typically book by the month with a 10-hour minimum to secure your spot (although one can secure as many months or hours in advance as they would like!). A business owner can hire me on a month-to-month basis without having to hire a full-time employee.

If they know they need extra support during tax season or the holidays, one can hire me for a short period of time. In addition to the Virtual Assistant side of my business, I also offer a social media site as well! This is a more focused approach to your Content and Community Management which includes content creation and repurposing, engagement, call to action, and bio optimization.

I am detail-obsessed, I love to create and I live for a checklist! When bringing me on to your team I want you to feel secure and confident you can trust I will get things done and minimize your stress.

I worked hard to create this brand and wanted to have it reflect the way my clients should feel after bringing me on board. Cool, calm, peaceful, organized, and detailed. I am so proud of what I have created and I have big dreams for this business of mine. Whether you are a CPA, entrepreneur, realtor, property manager, baker, event company, etc.

I am here to help you get back some of your time!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I am a Jacksonville native and have a ton of awesome memories from when I was a kid!

While it’s impossible to pick just one if I had to choose it would be spending the hours upon hours riding my bike through the neighborhood with the 15 other kids who lived within a block or two. I don’t think kids really get to experience what we experienced back in the ’90s.

I was gone from sun up to sun down almost every weekend, only to return home (with friends in tow) for a meal. We would ride bikes, skate, run through the woods, play on the river bank and even head down to the corner mart to stock up on candy. Times have changed and I am not sure we will get back to “those days” but I am forever thankful I got to experience all the wonderful things the ’90s brought us!
