Hi Dylan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been attracted to music for as long as I can remember. Every aspect from the music, the rhythm, to the lyrics encapsulated my attention. I started with drums at a young age but didn’t grasp on like I thought. It wasn’t until I started playing guitar many years later that I could wrap myself into it. Throughout my teenage years I spent lots of time playing guitar and starting bands with childhood friends. During that time I was also into hip-hop and rap. I found whatever free program I could to make beats and started to do that as well. I continued with all of these throughout high school and college and the love hasn’t stopped. I pushed myself further into audio production, learning as much as I could around a busy work schedule. After watching people like Andrew Huang make music out of inanimate objects I thought I could do that too. So one day I recorded a bunch of sounds in my kitchen and turned them into drum sounds and made a track out of them. It was extremely rewarding to see this process come to life in my hands. This got me thinking and inspired me to start Duval Ditties. My goal at Duval Ditties is to showcase local businesses and create branded audio for them to use on their social media platforms. The part that stands out from the rest is that all the drums sounds come from recordings from that particular business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but it’s been a rewarding process. Navigating how to start an online business, using social media for ads, and finding businesses that are interested in participating have all been struggles along the way.

Duval Ditties is an audio production company that specializes in creating branded audio for local businesses to use. I take a business environment and record audio samples from that space. I then take all the recorded sounds and turn them into drum sounds. Once I make enough drum sounds, I start to make beats for the business so they can use them throughout their social media, as a podcast intro, or as a jingle for a commercial. I also interview the business owner/manager to get insight on what the business does. I tie all of this together into a YouTube Episode so that you can experience everything from start to finish. Duval Ditties has aspects for all to enjoy. You can watch and learn more about local businesses and how I make my sounds. Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The biggest thing when starting out is planning. Before starting out, have a gameplan. Make sure you get everything aligned so that you can start smoothly. Make sure the business aspects are taken care of. Register your business with the right authorities, get the correct licensing, get a business bank account. Take care of the business side first. The product or service is what you excel in so showcasing that should come easier. The other biggest piece of advice I have is after you have planned, actually start! No one is going to do it for you!
