Community Highlights: Meet Delilah Beall, PT, DPT of Samson Strength & Performance PT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delilah Beall, PT, DPT.

Delilah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Physical therapy is my second career. I originally went to the University of Florida to pursue Architecture, but found that wasn’t for me. I ended up choosing an alternative major and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and went on to pursue a Master’s in International Business. Once I graduated, I held jobs in marketing, customer service and finance, but never truly felt like I reached my true potential. At that time, I had started getting into CrossFit and nutrition and wanted a job that was dynamic, people facing and related to fitness in some way. When I started researching careers, I fell in love with physical therapy and quit my job in finance to coach CrossFit full time and go back to school at night to earn the prerequisites required to apply for physical therapy school. Once in school, I started to explore the different avenues I could take in a physical therapy career and I knew I wanted to build my own practice and work as a performance-based cash pay physical therapist. Soon after physical therapy school, I built Samson Strength & Performance PT. I started as a solo practitioner in the office of a CrossFit gym and after 5 years moved to my own space that I purposefully built to foster the environment that I dreamed of. Now, we offer performance physical therapy and pelvic floor physical therapy along side women-focused services like semi-private personal training for women 40+, pregnancy and postpartum services, and doula services.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ha! No, owning a business is NEVER a smooth road. I have had so many struggles along the way. Being a business owner takes a lot of grit and it seems that every few months comes with a new challenge. Building out my own space was the most trying of times in the business. There was a lot of waiting and hoops to jump through and honestly, it feels as if the city doesn’t support small businesses at all. Once we got permits, got the space built out, and started business in our own, beautiful space things calmed down. But then I was hit with personnel issues and restructuring of business operations. I’ve learned to expect change, lean on my husband for support, and really just take time to myself when things get stressful.

We’ve been impressed with Samson Strength & Performance PT, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Samson Strength & Performance PT is an out of network performance physical therapy clinic focused on helping active adults and athletes get out of pain and remain pain free without injections, surgeries or medication. We help men and women recover from injuries, stay active, and prevent injuries. We are known for our hands-on, individualized approach, dry needling services, and our love of strength training. In fact, our clinic largely looks like a gym space. We have expanded services to pelvic health physical therapy and women-focused offerings including semi-private personal training for women40+ and weekly pelvic floor classes. I am very proud of the environment we have built and the safe space for women to get strong and learn more about their health from educated women, not just online influencers.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child, I was shy and quiet. I was always chubby and never played sports. I was a straight A student and kept to myself. I didn’t find fitness until I was in my 20s. After my father passed, I turned to fitness and exercise as a way to cope and begin to take care of my health. I started CrossFit in 2012 and I really think that is what changed my trajectory and eventually led me to where I am today.
