Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelita Holland.
Hi Chelita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My interest in psychology began at a high school career fair where a forensic psychologist presented her role at a maximum-security prison, discussing maladaptive behaviors exhibited by clients. Instantly, I was captivated. I pursued this interest with a high school psychology class and declared it my undergrad major. Being friendly as a teen, listening came easily. After undergrad, I worked in a psychiatric hospital, enjoyed the work, and decided on a master’s in social work. Following licensure, I started a private practice, always focused on my passion for people. In my practice, I emphasize listening and meeting clients where they are to guide them toward their goals. The versatility in my lived experience proves valuable in connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth; I initially doubted pursuing a degree after graduating as the high school class president, fifth academically, and three months pregnant. Supported by my relentless mother, I attended a local community college and university, graduating in four years with a Psychology degree. Teenage pregnancy demands sacrifice and support, but with grit and determination, any obstacle can be navigated.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
The goal of my practice is to provide a safe and clinical space, facilitating whole health. By listening to concerns and customizing treatment plans, we aim to nurture balance in all facets of life. Our Humanistic approach supports individuals in optimizing strengths and pursuing personal goals. I also provide a few group therapies to help relationship patterns and focus on navigating self and all the parts.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Losing my Dad a few years ago, I cherish his immeasurable legacy. His words resonate in my life, encouraging calculated risk-taking and the importance of a strong support team. Life is about stepping into the unknown, betting on oneself for the win, and having a team to provide support, honest feedback, and encouragement when needed. I am a risk taker, calculated and analytical, but a risk taker because “You can’t win if you don’t play,” it’s always important to “hand pick your team.”
