Today we’d like to introduce you to Yamira De Jesus.
Yamira, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My cousin and I always had a love for creating our own mixtures for skincare.
We enjoyed using things that were natural and easy on our skin. While searching for skincare options that are natural and affordable we found that nothing seemed to have the right mixture, and many times we weren’t even sure what the ingredients listed on the products were. Over time we decided we should look into making a business that could help others with their own skin sensitivities. So we decided to create T.Y.S. Care!
Something that was important to us in our research and development, was providing products that can be used by all skin types. With one of us having eczema, this was a MUST. So we took the time to research and test each product to ensure we were selling something of luxury but at an affordable price!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We would have to say that our biggest obstacle so far has been finding a place locally that helps us reach people that could best benefit from our products. We’ve had family and friends test each product out and they have fallen in love with them! We’re still trying to find the best way to share it with others.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We make handmade body care products for sensitive skin!
We specialize in creating products for common skincare issues that take the ingredients back to the basics. We’re most proud of the fact that we can provide luxury products at an affordable price for others both locally and online. You can look at the ingredients listed online and understand what you’re reading and what you’re using on your skin.
Our goal was to provide others with a body care line that they feel comfortable with, that smells amazing, and that doesn’t irritate their skin.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
We found that taking advantage of local creator markets, flea markets, and farmers’ markets has been a huge help.
They provide a group of people that share common goals as small businesses and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Going to these events also allows you to find individuals who support small businesses and help you to get your name out there!
