Check Out Terrence Armand’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Armand.

Hi Terrence, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got my start in photography in a very unusual way. initially, I had dreams of becoming a football player and playing for a popular D-1 school, but my dreams never materialized. I had recently moved to the city of Jacksonville from Miami, and I knew no one in the city besides my family.

To cope with my new surroundings, I took a point-and-shoot amateur camera that my mother had owned and began taking pictures at a park in my neighborhood. One day, while in the park shooting scenery, I got a tap on my shoulder when I turned around it was a woman by the name of Ericka Sunshine, she asked me if I was available to complete a photoshoot she was in the middle of doing something with no hesitation I said “Yes!”

Not knowing that she was a popular model in the city. Weeks later after self – teaching how to edit and using tools like photoshop I returned her photos and she absolutely loved them. She also referred me to several new clients which gave me my start in the profession. From that experience, I decided to invest in a professional camera, teaching myself new techniques and covering events around the city.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it was not a smooth road. I faced many challenges like building my brand in a city that had many other popular photographers before me. I also had to decide what direction I wanted to further my skills in weather it would be models, events, family photography, weddings and my other avenues that photography can lead to.

One of my greatest obstacles was covering the expenses of equipment, travel, advertisement, and creating a domain.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an event Conosur meaning, I am not tied to just one style of photography. I cover an array of events as a freelance photographer for Crown Capital Group. I specialize in night life photography which is why I named my company IMB Night Life.

I am best known for covering many red – carpet events such as the BET Awards, the Soul Train Awards, The Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida and headlining on the cover of Peoples Magazine for a viral image shot by me.

I am most proud of all the accomplishments I mentioned before and receiving several awards pertaining to my photography work. What sets me apart from others is my networking skills and the relationships I have gained over the years of doing good business.

What’s next?
My plans for the future is to tap into the fashion industry. I am looking forward to expanding my brand in the fashion industry and making Images Beyond Beauty a household name. I have currently launched a T-shirt line which can be found at imbnightlife.com/shop
