Hi Tammy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got into golf in 2023, and what started as something I simply wanted to try quickly turned into a passion I never expected. My grandpa has been a huge inspiration in my golf journey, and one of the things I love most about this sport is that it’s something we can share and bond over. Golf is unique because it’s a sport I can play with almost anyone, no matter their age or experience level, and it has given me the opportunity to connect with people I might not otherwise have had that common ground with.
As I spent more time on the course, I realized I rarely saw women who looked like me. I’m not your average-looking golfer, and I wanted to help change the idea of what people think a golfer is supposed to look like. That’s what inspired me to start creating content. I wanted to be the representation I wish I had when I first started and show other women that golf is truly for everyone—regardless of your size, age, or experience level. You don’t have to look a certain way to belong on the course.
Over time, it has grown into so much more than just creating content. I wanted to build a community where people could come together, meet new people, make friends, and feel like they belong. That’s why I started hosting events, golf trips, and tournaments. Creating opportunities for people to connect through the game and build friendships both on and off the course.
At the end of the day, my goal is to make golf feel more welcoming, inclusive, and fun, while showing people that there is a place for them in this sport. Golf has given me so much, and I hope I can inspire others to pick up a club, find their people, and experience all the amazing connections that can come from this game.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of bumps along the way, especially when I first started creating content. I had people come out of the woodwork with some pretty harsh comments, and at times, it was difficult to not let that get to me. But in a funny way, some of that negativity actually helped my content reach more people. It pushed me in front of an audience I never would have reached otherwise, and through that, I was able to find my people—the right people who supported what I was trying to build and believed in the community I wanted to create.
The events and tournaments have been another learning curve. In the beginning, planning them would literally keep me up at night. I would stress over every little detail and worry about whether people would actually have a good time. We started with events where maybe 10 people would show up, and slowly, as people experienced them and saw how much fun they were, the community started growing.
One of my biggest full-circle moments happened recently when I hosted a girls’ golf trip for 24 ladies. The trip completely sold out in just two days, and I had people asking and begging for a spot after we were full. That was such a surreal moment because just the year before, I was struggling to get 12 women to sign up. Seeing that growth reminded me that all of those late nights, stress, and uncertainty were worth it. It showed me that I really am building something bigger than myself—a community where people genuinely want to be a part of what we’re creating.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is centered around golf content creation, community building, and creating experiences that bring people together through the game. I create relatable, fun, and authentic golf content across social media, with a big focus on showing that you don’t have to fit the traditional image of a golfer to belong in the sport.
I’m probably best known for being unapologetically myself and bringing a different perspective to golf. I’m not your average-looking golfer, and that’s something I’ve embraced rather than tried to hide. When I first started playing, I rarely saw women who looked like me on the course, and I wanted to become the representation I wished I had. I want people to see my content and think, “If she can do it, so can I.”
Beyond content, I’ve built a community around golf by hosting events, tournaments, and golf trips. I love creating experiences where people can meet, make new friends, and find their place in the golf world. What started with small events and sometimes only 10 people showing up has grown into sold-out experiences, including a recent girls’ golf trip with 24 women that sold out in just two days.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve created and the impact it has had on people. I’ve had women tell me that seeing me play gave them the confidence to start golfing, or that they finally felt like they belonged on a golf course. Those moments mean more to me than any number of followers or views.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not just creating content about golf. I’m actively trying to change what people think golf looks like and who it’s for. I’m creating the representation, community, and experiences that I wish I had when I started. My goal is to make golf feel more welcoming, inclusive, and fun for everyone, while reminding people that there is a place for them in this game.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Since I just recently moved to Jacksonville, Florida, I’m still getting to know the area and figuring out my likes and dislikes. I started creating my golf content in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, so that will always feel like home to me in a lot of ways. I’ll definitely miss the mountain courses, the beautiful scenery, and the charm of golfing back home.
That being said, I was really excited to move to Jacksonville because of the culture, diversity, food, and, of course, the incredible golf courses. There’s such a different energy here, and I love that there are so many opportunities to explore new courses and meet new people. I’m also excited to experience the golf community here and see how my content and community can grow in a new environment.
I think my biggest “dislike” so far is simply being away from the place where I started. I’m still adjusting to being somewhere new, and I miss the familiarity of home and the mountain views I grew up golfing around. But I’m really looking forward to embracing Jacksonville, discovering my new favorite spots, and making it feel like home while still carrying the Shenandoah Valley and the community that helped me get started with me.
