Check Out Robert Acevedo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Acevedo.

Hi Robert, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began playing music since I was little kid. I started around 5 and I just fell in love with my instruments and with everything that involved that world. It’s been my whole life. I just love everything that has to do with music and percussion. I grew up listening to salsa and jazz pop rock. I’ve traveled played for some incredible musicians and artist. But all of that led to here and I tought to my self I would love to teach and help the future generations become better musicians than me so I opened up rimshot studios

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it’s never a smooth road. I think that’s what makes it worth while. Because if it was smooth it would be boring.

The biggest struggle that I have had is how people tend to knock you down when you are achieving your goals and or growing. The amount of people who have doubted and have created a false sense of entitlement is insane. But that’s where you and I can make the difference because when others doubt that pushes you to be resilient. Where others like to meddle you can show patience and love and kindness. Where others want you to fail you pray for their blessings. Everyday is a new opportunity to change the world even if it is one prayer at a time

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am know for being a great drummer and percussionist. I have a very unique ability to play several percussion instruments that not many can play like Congas, timbales and instruments within that Caribbean diaspora. And play stylistically within a wide range of styles like jazz pop rock and salsa bossa nova samba and sound like I’m part of that culture and that style of music. I also know how to produce music and heavy into videography

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Never stop fighting. The fight isn’t over until the fight is over. Things get rough you keep fighting you make room for your dreams and you ignore all the outside noise. Sometimes garbage gets on the road just pick it up and throw off the road and keep going because there’s a beautiful reward at the end of that road.
