Check Out Raisa Skalaban’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raisa Skalaban.

Hi Raisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in a small village in Belarus as the 8th child in a large family. Life there was simple, quiet, and deeply rooted in tradition — but I always dreamed bigger. After years of working across different creative fields, I moved to the U.S. with nothing but vision and determination.

Here, I discovered the world of content creation. I began sharing mini vlogs, visual stories, and authentic product experiences — not from a studio, but from real life. Slowly, my passion turned into a profession. Today, I’m proud to say I’ve collaborated with over 100 brands, building a personal brand that blends art, honesty, and influence.

My journey isn’t just about building a career — it’s about turning a quiet voice into a powerful story that connects, inspires, and proves that even someone from a small village can make an impact worldwide.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most profound loss I’ve ever experienced was the passing of my mother. She died unexpectedly during prayer in a quiet church — a moment so surreal, it felt like the world stopped. That was the day my life split into before and after. Her death didn’t just break my heart — it broke my sense of safety, of home, of who I was.

In many ways, I left everything behind after that. I moved to the U.S. not chasing a dream, but escaping a silence too loud to bear. I arrived with grief in my chest, a child in my arms, and no roadmap — just the quiet need to start over somewhere far from where everything fell apart.

There were days I didn’t know how I’d make it — emotionally, financially, spiritually. But slowly, through creativity, I found pieces of myself again. Creating became more than content — it became healing. And every video I make, every photo I share, carries a little of her light in it. I know she’s with me still, in the softness, in the strength, in every step forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create visual stories that make people feel something real. As a content creator, I specialize in lifestyle and brand storytelling through short-form video, mini vlogs, and product-focused visuals that are both aesthetic and emotionally grounded. I don’t rely on trends — I rely on atmosphere, authenticity, and intention.

What sets me apart is the emotional layer behind my work. I’m not just showing a product — I’m capturing a moment, a mood, a feeling. I’ve worked with over 100 brands, but each collaboration is personal. I approach content not as a performance, but as an offering — something made with care, composition, and heart.

I’m most proud of the fact that I built all of this from nothing. As an immigrant woman, a mother, and an artist — creating beauty, consistency, and connection in a foreign country is not just work, it’s a statement. It’s my way of saying: I’m here, I see beauty, and I want others to see it too.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I believe mentors don’t always come in formal titles — sometimes it’s a quiet message in your DMs, a generous comment from someone ahead of you, or simply watching someone live boldly and honestly. I’ve learned to find guidance in unexpected places — in books, in women I admire from afar, and in creators who speak from the heart.

What has worked best for me is leading with authenticity. I don’t chase connections — I nurture them. I show up fully, I share vulnerably, and I let people see the real process behind the polished content. That’s when the right people start to notice. The right people want to help you when they feel your fire is real.

And sometimes, the best mentor is your past self — the one who kept going, even when no one was watching.
