Hi Melanie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! I’m Mel, the owner and heart of Moments by Mel! What was once a hobby and a spare bedroom turned studio, I’ve built a career (beyond my wildest dreams!) that takes me across Florida and the country documenting real love stories. When I’m not on the go, you can find me in my new Palm Coast studio celebrating beauty with boudoir sessions & honoring all of the phases of motherhood through maternity and newborn photography. I cannot wait to tell your story!
I met the love of my life while working as a pharmacy technician for over 7 years. I got married in 2022 and decided it was time to retire the scrubs and get back to my passion! My wedding day was by far the best day of my life. Not only did I gain the perfect husband, but two amazing stepdaughters! Our love story may not be conventional, (by slight age gap I mean significant) but I have always been a firm believer that life is a short trip, and you should enjoy every second of it no matter who makes you happy or what you do (or don’t do) in life. God has blessed me beyond measure, and it is the photos and videos that I look back on and smile over the most.

Obtaining my FAA Part 107 remote pilot license in 2025
Tearing up at least once during every wedding I have photographed
Graduating from the New York Institute of Photography
Owning operating my own photography studio in Palm Coast, FL
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey of photography has been an adventure to say the least, when I got my first paid client I had no idea that it would blossom into a full time career, but I will always be grateful I took the risk of leaving my full time job to pursue my passion. While there have mostly been goods, living with endometriosis & infertility has changed how I see time, bodies, and the journey of life & motherhood in general. December of 2025, I underwent my fourth and final abdominal surgery (two specifically for endo)
More was found than expected, but that alone shifted my perspective on my work, making it mean more to me now than ever. Moving forward, I would love to donate at least 10% of my sessions to fertility & reproductive health support

I’m the owner and lead creative behind Moments by Mel, with an exciting possible evolution into Fletcher Film & Photo as I continue growing my work in both photography and videography. I specialize in weddings first, along with maternity and boudoir sessions all rooted in an experience that feels genuine, emotional, and true to each season of life. Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with video as a way to capture not just how a moment looked, but how it felt.
What I’m most proud of is the experience I create for my clients. With over 40 five star Google reviews, the common thread is how comfortable, supported, and truly seen people feel in front of my camera.
My passion for maternity and motherhood storytelling is deeply personal. Walking through my own endometriosis and infertility journey has given me a greater appreciation for documenting the strength and beauty of this season.
A huge part of my work is my associate and creative partner, Angelica! Our story is 15 years in the making. Our friendship and shared love for photography bring a natural connection, seamless teamwork, and so much heart to the experience we provide.
What sets us apart is simple: we care deeply, and our goal is always to create imagery that feels like you while making the experience just as meaningful as the memories themselves.
