Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Soto.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I’m Megan- photographer, owner, and everything in between at Megan Soto Photography. I moved to St Augustine in 2007 for Flagler College, and it’s been home ever since! I’ve been in business since 2014 and couldn’t love it more. This business has been my light for several years. Documenting moments of my family’s beauty and being reminded of the joy and the good in life by documenting other people’s families has been such a blessing. The families I have met through the years and friendships I have formed are more than I ever dreamed of.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Other than the pandemic, that was hard for all of us. The most challenging part is adjusting to this business’s “feast or famine” seasonal nature. Trying to stay motivated and focused during slow seasons and trusting that work will pick up again after the winter every year has been a challenge and a great learning opportunity.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer who specializes in family pictures. I like to make sure my photoshoots are fun for my family. A memory of a stressful rigid photo session with kids isn’t worth it, even when the pictures come out great. Good times make for good images, so we play silly games to get everyone smiling.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love being so close to the beach and the long summers. I don’t love how overcrowded it is getting.
