Check Out Marc Gonzalez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Gonzalez

Hi Marc, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hey all! My name is Marc Gonzalez and I’m a seasoned strength and conditioning coach with over 10 years of experience. I am a native of Buffalo, NY, and moved to the St. Augustine area about a year ago. I most recently worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Flagler College Sports Performance Department. I currently hold two degrees: Physical Education and Health Promotion: Health and Fitness.

Working in various roles throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients with a wide spectrum of focus. I have worked with individuals on strength training and Olympic weightlifting, post-physical therapy training, cancer care patients and survivors, and high school and collegiate sport athletes. My experience includes 1-on-1 personal training, group training, and remote exercise programming. Every session focuses on improving my client’s physical and mental health through strength and conditioning.

Currently I am working as the Director of Wellness at the Center for Health and Sports Medicine in Fruit Cove.

I lead by example in my own strength training and nutritional habits by competing in the sport of Olympic weightlifting. Competing at the national level, I apply my experience and knowledge from the sport into any and all fitness environments to meet the needs and goals of my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles along the way were shown when my girlfriend and our 10 year old pup moved across the country to the state of Oregon for 4 years. I worked in the medical fitness field and enrolled in school to earn my masters of acupuncture degree. However, during 2020 and the pandemic it made it very challenging to complete the program, leading me to an opportunity to move to Florida and work with the athletes at Flagler College in the sports performance department. It was not easy to pick up and move back to the east coast going from Buffalo, to Oregon, then Florida after only a few years. My girlfriend and family were the greatest of support during that time getting everything organized.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a strength and conditioning coach who specializes in olympic weightlifting, strength training, and post physical therapy training, I am known for providing the ultimate gym, training-workout experience. Clients and patients that work with me become obsessed with training because of the incredible results they see from dedicating time to working hard. As a professional I am most proud when I see someone transition from inconsistency with motivation, to a lifestyle that is disciplined toward accomplishing personal goals. What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect and form relationships, as well as build communities in gym spaces with like-minded people looking to better themselves

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is understanding what level of value you can bring toward others and how much it can affect them. It’s not about how much you know or who you know, it’s about how much you can show that you care that exemplifies the characteristics of a leader..
